MyOatmeal sent me custom oatmeal and PB lean for review. All opinions are my own.
One of the major staples in my diet is oatmeal. I rarely have the energy to get up and make a breakfast that requires a lot of effort. I love how oatmeal can be made quickly, is warm (perfect for cold mornings!), has health benefits and can keep me full for a while.
I have wished for a long time that oatmeal came in more varieties, though. I know some people try to create their own oatmeal flavors simply using fruit with plain oatmeal but the flavor just doesn’t saturate the oats the way that I’m used to. So I was so excited to discover MyOatmeal, a website that lets you create your own oatmeal flavors and customize your oatmeal in several ways.

You get to choose what kind of oats you want (I went for instant because I like the convenience). You get to choose your own flavors and you can add in things like nuts, fruit, sugar and/or sweeteners and more. I made three types of oatmeal. My first combined apple pie, cinnamon roll and sweet icing flavors. I thought the idea of an apple-flavored cinnamon roll with icing sounded amazing! I added in sweetened greek yogurt chips to add in some protein and sweetness, and sucralose to add sweetness without adding calories.
For a second bag I went with cake batter, sugar cookie, and sweet icing to make a cookie/cake combo. For this one I did not add any protein or nuts, and just added sucralose to sweeten further.
Ryan created a bag with a german chocolate cake theme. German chocolate cake was a flavor that he chose, and he added in chipped coconut seems how German chocolate cake usually has a coconut frosting.

When you’re making your oatmeal a nutritional panel scrolls down with you, so if you are paying close attention to how much protein, fiber, sugar, etc you have in your diet you can see how your additions alter the nutrition as you go.
Ryan felt like his german chocolate cake oatmeal tasted more like plain cocoa than german chocolate cake and he unfortunately isn’t a fan of straight cocoa so his oatmeal was a bit of a bust. We both loved the apple cinnamon roll and sugar/cake oatmeals that I made though. We both liked the apple cinnamon roll oatmeal the most, I think having the sweetened greek yogurt chips helped it seem a lot sweeter which was more appealing to us. I was a bit surprised that the sugar/cake oatmeal didn’t seem very sweet but I added some zero-calorie sugar at home and that helped a lot. We were used to buying sugar-free preflavored oatmeal packets for use at home so I thought that adding the sucralose to the flavors would be enough but we both decided a bit more sweetener was needed.

While I really liked the oatmeal that we made, I absolutely LOVED the cake batter pb lean that we made. I primary use peanut butter on toast so my first attempt to try the cake batter pb lean I made was on toast and I was hooked. I ate my cake batter pb lean toast everyday for about two weeks straight after I tried it the first time. It doesn’t really seem like cake batter to me, but it makes my peanut butter toast taste like a peanut butter cookie. If I can feel like I am eating a peanut butter cookie when I’m really having a low-calorie, high protein snack that counts as a major win.

My custom PB lean nutritional label
I plan to re-order my pb lean cake batter and my apple cinnamon roll oatmeal moving forward as I have enjoyed them both quite a bit. It’s always nice to find new, super yummy foods that fit well into a healthy meal plan.

I would start with old fashioned thin oats, with maple, rasins
