Toast Review ~ Handcrafted, Real Wood Covers for Your Tech Gadgets | Emily Reviews
By Emily Benzing

December 7th, 2016

Thank you to Toast for sending me product in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

My boyfriend, Kyle, never likes to use a case on his phone. He has trouble finding cases that are his style, but not too bulky. It’s hard in general to find phone cases for men. Most of them are too glitzy and girly. Since getting an iPhone not too long ago, Kyle changed his mind and wanted to get a case since these phones are a bit more fragile. We bought one for $5 but it was too plain and definitely not high quality. When given the opportunity to review Toast products, I jumped at the chance because everything was definitely Kyle’s style!

Toast is a company that handcrafts real wood and genuine leather covers for all of your tech gadgets. From iPhones and Androids, to Playstations, laptops, and tablets – there is a cover for any piece of technology. Toast also uses 100% renewable energy and donates 1% of annual sales to environmental non-profit companies working to restore and protect our natural world. I was sent a wooden iPhone case as well as a wooden Playstation 4 case to review.

What’s fun about Toast is that the “cases” aren’t so much a case as they are paneled covers. Made from real wood cut with lasers, the iPhone case is a one piece wrap with button covers that you peel and stick on. You can also optionally get a front panel. You really have to be extra careful with applying these covers because it’s all about lining it up perfectly. While that can take some time, the result is worth it. The pieces of wood are thick and actually pretty protective.

The Apple iPhone 6 case comes in three different wood grains to choose from. There’s Walnut, which is what I received, Ash (a light, white wood), and Ebony (a dark grain). For just $5 more, you can have a design etched into the wood. Or for another $5, you can have custom text on it as well.

Kyle didn’t think it was too hard to apply the cover. It took some time, but his patience paid off because his phone looks gorgeous! The walnut wood is his style and he gets compliments on his phone all the time. It’s manly enough for him, which is what he was looking for. It’s also neat because the wood can get scratched just like any other wood object. It goes through wear and tear and creates memories on the case itself.

I also decided to get a similar cover, but for Kyle’s Playstation 4. The PS4 covers come in all of the wood grains I talked about, plus an additional option of a bamboo cover. You can also get custom text for another $5. It’s pretty much the same as a phone case, but the panels obviously fit for the PS4. Panels come to fit the front, top, and sides. The vents are also exposed even with the case on so that your Playstation can cool as it normally would.

This cover was harder to put on than the iPhone. I think it’s because the PS4 is bigger, so there’s more room for error. All in all, Kyle managed to do it and he is in love with it. The Playstation fits more with our home decor and it looks sleek. It also cools just as expected – no overheating.

Overall, I am so pleased with Toast products. Not only are Kyle’s devices more protected, but they’re stylish and look great in our home. We get compliments all the time and I would honestly buy more of their covers for the rest of my technology gadgets. The application process can be tough, but it’s worth putting in the time and patience. I think Toast would be a great gift for anyone who can appreciate a good tech cover.

What a nifty company! Great idea for phone cases, laptop covers, ipads, etc. I’m done with my holiday shopping but I’m scouting out ideas for next year. This will stay on my list!

Okay, these are just plain cool! My husband is the same way about not wanting a phone cover- but realizes he probably needs something. I’m sure he could find something he likes here. Plus, the text option is very cool. I just love how the PS 4 looks!

Looking at their social media accounts, they offer some pretty nice covers. I have always love wood grain patterns and they remind me of the wood paneling my folks had in our home in the seventies.
