Dining out is part of life. It can be overwhelming to dine out when you are trying to eat healthily. Thankfully, when you are on a Nutrisystem plan, they send you an Eating Out Guide. This is the holy grail! The Eating Out Guide helps you to make smart choices. They list strategies for success, give you diet-friendly foods at 30 of the most popular eateries nationwide, show you healthy comparisons as well as teach you proper portion sizes. Do NOT leave home without this book!
If you keep a few things in mind while dining out, it will help you to stay on track-
Plan Ahead- Choose a restaurant with healthy options. If available, look at the menu online before you leave. Have a healthy snack before you arrive at the restaurant.
Order Wisely- It is OK to make special requests. Ask them to leave off the sauces, grill rather than fry and request they NOT bring a bread basket/chips (etc.) to the table.
Eat Smart- Pace yourself. Enjoy the dining experience and those around you. STOP eating before you get uncomfortably full.
Dining out isn’t an excuse to go completely crazy. Try to eat the same way you would at home.

Hello, my name is Laurie. My family and I live near the Oregon coast. When we aren’t at work, in school, or on the volleyball court, we enjoy traveling, cheering for our favorite sports teams, playing outdoors, and checking off items on our bucket list. We are lucky in that both sets of our parents, as well as our siblings and their families, live within an hour of us. We get together often to help one another out, celebrate milestones, and go on adventures together.

No bread basket. sigh. I know, it’s the biggest temptation.

Thank you for the tips. Those are good tips for everyone, not just those looking for dieting tips. I cannot resist the bread basket but I do request the special healthy choices. (Don’t judge me) I just found out you can ask for french fries without salt. You have to wait for freshly cooked but people like me, who have avoided them because the salt, can have them occasionally again.

I tink more places are giving choices than they used to. It depends on where you go though. We dont eat out much, but I do have one weakness an it is a buffet that serves catfish. I cant resist, and it is the bad one- they are fried and cant be ordered steamed or grilled.
Keep up the good work!
Slow and steady wins the race. Good tips for dining out.
