I am a Nutrisystem nation blogger. I am provided with a Nutrisystem meal plan in return for sharing regular updates. All opinions are my own.
I’ve enjoyed going to yard and garage sales for years. I’ve never held my own sale, until this week. I realized that Ryan had a lot of clothing that has not fit in a long time due to his weight loss that resulted from Nutrisystem. I have lost weight myself and had clothing to get rid of for the same reason. I also just had odds and ends of other things that I had purchased and didn’t end up using, and so on. I decided it was time to try having a yard sale of my own. My town had city wide sales this week so I decided to give it a shot.
Today was day 3 and I’m really happy with our results. It was a fun experience to have our first yard sale. One of my favorite aspects was watching our old clothing that is now too large go to others who will get more use out of them. Ryan has lost 2.5 sizes in shirts and pants both. While I was folding his old jeans to set up for the sale, it was odd how large they sent to me. I’m so used to folding his smaller jeans now.
The overall feeling that I had from getting rid of the old clothing was a sense of freedom. He felt held down back when he was heavier, and he’s gained confidence in his loss. Now that the old clothes are gone, there isn’t anything left of his heavier days except for photos. And we’re both happy about that. It’s freeing to let the clothes go with confidence that they won’t be needed in that size again.
If you’ve lost weight, did you get rid of old clothing right away, or did it take you a while? How did it feel when you finally let go?

I think it’s great to get rid of clothes that no longer fit.

I know that feeling. After I lost some weight, I got rid of my larger clothes. My theory was if I started to gain weight I would not have any large clothes to fall back on. So it would be a wake up call to get back to better eating habits.

It is a freeing feeling to let go of larger clothes. And it’s exciting, knowing you can spend money on new clothes! LOL. WTG with the clothes and the first yard sale!
