Although this is my second pregnancy, I have never owned ‘maternity’ swim wear. For my first pregnancy I got by with what I had and borrowing a few tankinis from my mother-in-law who was larger than I was. This summer, I found Mermaid Maternity and I am so happy that I did!

Mermaid Maternity specializes in swim wear for pregnant moms. My cousin has a swim suit from them and she said it is still her favorite swim suit (and her youngest is almost four)!

I chose the Dresskini Top in Polka Dots and Boy Short Bottoms in Black. I have worn the suit a few times now and I just can’t tell you all how much I love it! It fits so well. It covers everywhere you want to be covered and I don’t feel self-conscious in it, which is saying something. I have on a large top and large bottoms. I am about 5’6″ and about 190 pounds (yes! I just shared my weight!) Hopefully that helps you all with sizing. I feel the pieces are quite true to size. I wear large tops and bottoms in most of my maternity clothing.

Mermaid Maternity offers Tankini Tops, Swim Dresses, Swim Shirts and Rash Guards. For bottoms, they offer Swim Shorts, Board Shorts, Swim Skirts, Swim Skorts, and Swim Briefs. They offer a variety of patterns and colors as well. I especially love the fit of the boy short bottoms, they feature a full panel (which I prefer in regular clothing as well) and it is super comfortable on my belly and I did not feel overheated at all. I’ve worn the suit a few times now and it washes up wonderfully. It still looks brand new even after a few wears/washes. If you are pregnant, I feel a swim suit from Mermaid Maternity is a must have!
