I was sent a LifeShip kit for my gift guide. All opinions are my own.
I love being able to share really unique gift ideas with you guys. While there are lots of great traditional gifts out there that I enjoy sharing too, I suspect that unique gift ideas are sometimes the most helpful. When you’re struggling to come up with a gift idea for someone, it’s often because the more common ideas just don’t seem to match very well.
I tend to get my boyfriend Ryan practical gifts. He doesn’t good about buying himself things in general. It’s not unusual for me to buy him gifts of things like clothes or cold weather gear, because he really could use them. He appreciates and gets plenty of use out of practical gifts, so I don’t feel bad about using those as gifts. I prefer to not only give practical gifts though. I like to also include items that he’ll think are fun or cool in some way. This Christmas, I’m gifting him a LifeShip kit.
When you buy a LifeShip DNA to the moon kit, they’ll send you a kit that allows you to gather your DNA to send to them, which they’ll send to the moon! The rocket will leave in 2021. There are lots of potential reasons why people may find this to be an appealing gift.
Maybe they will like the idea of sending their DNA to the moon because they’d like to go to the moon, and sending their DNA is both literal and symbolic way of doing so!
Maybe they like the idea of living on in space. Your DNA will be preserved in artificial amber so that you will stay on the moon forever.
Maybe they like the idea of staying somewhere as a family. There are family kits that you can buy to send multiple people at once. After the rocket goes to the moon with your family DNA, your family will be able to look at the moon and know you’ll always be there together.
Future scientific use. The LifeShip site suggests that perhaps these LifeShip capsules will someday be used as a seed for creating a new world. You never know, right?
If you’re in need of a memorial gift, they also have an ashes to the moon gift. For a loved one who has passed on but would love to live on in space, this can be a wonderful memorial.

This is definitely a fun idea and I’m going to have to suggest it to my husband.

That has got to be one of the most unique gifts I’ve ever seen. I can think of a space research fan I know who would be tickled by this.

This DNA to the moon kit would certainly be a very different gift to give. But so cool and I am sure my nephew would really be happy with this!
