I was sent a POWERUP Plane kit for my gift guide. All opinions are my own.
I’ve said before that I like when I can find gifts for kids that are both educational and fun. Something they’ll be excited to explore with, yet is really educational, perhaps without kids even realizing it!
POWERUP kits are made to turn any paper airplane into a remote controlled airplane! They make a few different ones, I will specifically be sharing about the POWERUP 4.0 version though there are two others to choose from as well.
In fact, you don’t have to limit yourself to just paper airplanes. You can also make planes with lightweight balsa wood or foam. This effectively lets you turn your paper airplanes into remote-controlled airplanes. You can experiment with making all sorts of different plane styles to see what works best. There are different options on the app that allow you to do loop, barrel rolls and hammerhead moves.
It’s Bluetooth enabled and smartphone-controlled using android or apple devices. It can fly at speeds up to 20mph, and is just 8.6 inches long. It can even be used in “imperfect” conditions, as it has auto-stabilizers. It can stay powered for up to 10 minutes of flight time per charge. It has a quick recharge battery and can easily be replaced. The kit comes with a 12-month warranty.
This kit is a great way for older kids to experiment with different types of homemade paper planes, or would work as a cool gift idea for paper plane hobbyists of any age.
In addition to the plane starter kits, there are also accessory kits available. Spare parts kits, a balsa wood kit, multiple types of foam kits and more. The 4.0 kit is recommended for ages 14 and up. I will be gifting this to my 10 year old nephew, who I think will manage it alright with help from his dad. I know he’ll find it fun to explore, we just are prepared for there to be a bit of a learning curve for him. Nothing wrong with that though!
Buy it: Head to PowerUpToys.com. They also sell on Amazon!
Win it: A POWERUP 4.0 first flight smart paper airplane kit, a $79.99 value. The giveaway is open to the US and will end 12/24/2020.

I had no idea something like this existed. My son loves making paper airplanes but he always gets frustrated when they don’t fly. I think this might help him and him and his brother both would have fun with this! Thank you for sharing Emily.

This looks so much more fun than back in the day of a poorly engineered paper airplane of my elementary years.
