Ah, summer! Like many, during the warm summer months, we spend extra time outside enjoying the nice weather. However, the extra time under the summer sun can wreak havoc on your hair. The heat and UV rays can cause your hair to dry out, become brittle, and lose its natural luster.

Today I have 5 easy DIY Recipes for Homemade Hair Treatments. These recipes include ingredients you likely have at home in your kitchen pantry. If you don’t happen to have them, they can be found at most local grocery stores.

Banana & Egg Revitalizing Hair Mask

Blend a banana and one raw egg together. Apply the mask to your hair starting at the scalp and working your way to the ends. Cover your hair with a towel or a shower cap. Allow the mask to soak into your hair for 10 minutes and then wash and condition with your normal products. 

Plain Yogurt & Coconut Oil Moisturizing Hair Mask

Combine 2-TBS of plain yogurt with 1-TBS liquid coconut oil. Apply the mixture to your hair from your scalp to the ends. Cover your hair with a towel or shower cap and allow it to soak on your hair for 10 minutes. Then wash and condition your hair as you normally do. 

Avocado & Honey Hydrating Hair Mask

Mash a ripe avocado with 1-TBS of honey. Apply the blend to your hair working from the scalp to the ends. Cover your hair with a towel or a shower cap. Allow it to soak on your hair for 10 minutes, then wash and condition with your normal products. 

Aloe Vera & Olive Oil Renewing Hair Mask

Blend 2-TBS pure aloe vera with 1-TBS extra-virgin olive oil. Apply the mask to your hair from your scalp through to the ends. Cover your hair with a towel or shower cap and allow it to soak on your hair for 10 minutes. Then wash and condition your hair as you would normally.

Pumpkin & Cinnamon Refreshing Hair Mask

Combine 2-TBS of pumpkin puree with 1-tsp of ground cinnamon. Apply the blend to your hair from the scalp to the ends. Cover your hair with a towel or shower cap. Allow the mask to soak for 10 minutes and then wash and condition your hair as you normally do.

    All of these sound so interesting. YEARS ago I used beer (I don’t like beer) to rinse my hair. Don’t remember what it did but it made my hair nice.

    I heard of using Mayonnaise, egg, and honey mixtures on your hair. Not particularly together either. Some of these mixtures sound tasty. The ingredients are reasonably cheap. Thank you for sharing.
    I am going to try a couple of these DIY treatments.
