Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate – Pipin' Hot Collector's Edition for PlayStation 4

Nighthawk Interactive sent me Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate – Pipin’ Hot Collector’s Edition for PlayStation 4 to feature. All opinions are my own.

If you’re shopping for a TMNT fan this holiday season, the Splintered Fate Collector’s Edition is one of those gifts that’s going to make someone really excited. This isn’t just a game – it’s packaged in an actual pizza box slipcase and comes loaded with collectibles that any Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles enthusiast would love to display.

What’s Inside the Pizza Box

The collector’s edition really goes all out with the extras. You get ooze-green tabletop RPG dice (which is such a fun touch!), a NYC sewer manhole cover dice case to store them in, a 50-page art book with a retro manual, a foil pack of 10 exclusive collector’s cards featuring the main characters and enemies, a double-sided metallic coin with Dreamer Coin on one side and Dragon Coin on the other, an exclusive TMNT: Splintered Fate comic from IDW Publishing, and two posters perfect for decorating. Plus, of course, the game itself with the Casey Jones & The Junkyard Jam expansion included.

The dice are compatible with other tabletop RPG games, but they suggest using them to pick your co-op character, power tree, or even pizza toppings during game sessions with friends, which I think is a clever way to add some randomness and fun to the gaming experience.

About the Game

Splintered Fate is a roguelike brawler where you play as Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael, or Donatello. The story kicks off when Splinter is kidnapped by Shredder and mysterious portals start appearing across NYC. With April and Metalhead helping analyze artifacts, the Turtles battle through the Foot Clan to rescue their father – but there’s an even greater threat lurking in the shadows.

The roguelike aspect means no two runs are the same, with randomized power-ups, room layouts, and boss modifiers keeping things fresh. You can master different elemental powers – water and fire, utrom and ooze, light and darkness – to create unique builds for your Turtles. Each turtle has their own unique powers, so there’s variety depending on which character you choose.

Co-op Gaming

One of the best features is the multiplayer capability. You can play online or couch co-op on the same screen, and it supports crossplay across all platforms (PS5, PS4, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch). The difficulty adjusts dynamically and it’s drop-in-drop-out, so if someone wants to join mid-game or needs to leave, it’s not a problem. For families or friend groups who game together, this is perfect for those holiday gaming sessions.

The Casey Jones DLC adds a new playable character, the Junkyard level, and new bosses and enemies, so there’s even more content beyond the base game.

Who Would Love This

This collector’s edition would be ideal for anyone who grew up with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and still loves the franchise, gamers who enjoy roguelike brawlers or co-op games, or collectors who appreciate special editions with lots of physical goodies. At $100 (when not on sale), it’s definitely a premium gift, but considering everything that’s included – the game, DLC, and all those collectibles – it’s actually pretty reasonably priced for a collector’s edition.

The game launched December 5th and is available now on Amazon in four different forms. Ps4, PS5, Xbox series X, and Switch. If you’re putting together a holiday shopping list for a TMNT fan or gamer in your life, this is one of those gifts that shows you really paid attention to what they’re into. The pizza box packaging alone is going to get a great reaction when they open it!
