I know many of you have already changed over to reusable bags, as we all know how terrible plastic bags are on the environment. However, have you thought about what reusable bags you’re using? Most people simply buy their reusable bags from wal mart or other store. Have you noticed their size? The store I frequent most often is a dollar general store, because it’s the only place in my town to buy groceries. When we actually go grocery shopping we drive 15 minutes away or so to the next town, but we wind up at our dollar general almost daily. The reusable bags there are super tiny, perhaps 1/2 the size of a regular grocery bag? Maybe 2/3ds, but definitely not the size of a plastic bag.

I recently got the opportunity to work with chico bag. Chico bag is a company that makes great reusable bags. Not only are they really large, but they’re more convenient than other brands of reusable bags too. I was sent a sling bag and a vita bag to review. Both are really big! Easily the size of two plastic grocery bags. You can tell how large the sling bag is in this photo, and the vita bag carries just as much.

When we took these bags with us to get groceries, between the two bags they carried at least 1/3rd of all of our groceries. So we would only need about six of these bags for an entire trip, which is super convenient when loading groceries in and out of the car.

As far as styles go, I slightly prefer the sling style to the Vita, but I think it’s all about preference. I also prefer messenger bags or purses that have long straps so I can hang them across my body instead of under my arm. However, seems how these are so big, they can carry a lot which gets heavy and I feel that it’s easier to carry the bags when they weight is distributed across your body than it is on the vita bag when its all in your hand.

I also like these bags because when unfolded, they have a small pouch that sits on the inside. So when they are empty, you can flip them inside out and fold them up into this pouch that stays attached to the bag. It’s a big hard to explain but it’s super easy to understand when you see them in person. Anyway, when the bag is inside of the pouch, there is a little hook or clip that is on the outside, so they easily clip to your purse, grocery cart, etc, while you’re shopping, or if you like to keep your reusable bags in your car you can clip them on something in your car so they don’t get lost. By the way, the above image of the folded in bag makes the bag appear much larger than it really is. The pouch for these bags is approximately 3.5 x 5.

Overall I really liked these bags and think they are well worth the 9.99 they retail at. You can purchase chico bags online
