As a kid, we rarely had family photos taken and when we did we would go to walmart or somewhere similar for their cheaper packages. I remember often taking in the babies in the family, so that we would have pictures of them to hand out with the older children’s school photos. I remember one time in particular, we took my little sister in for photos when she was about two. We had to wait on people who had gotten there before us, and my little sister got tired of waiting in their tiny waiting room like any 2 year old would. It also got closer and closer to her nap time, as time went on. By the time that it was our turn, she was tired and getting cranky. The photographer didn’t seem to be familiar with taking photos of young children because she kept saying “Smile!” and hoping my sister would smile. She also tried to have her fold her hands perfectly, and place them on one knee. Of course, within seconds my sister would move and the photographer would have to replace her hands. In the end, the photographer only grew more impatient and my sister wound up crying and then the photos of her taken after she cried showed her blotchy skin. The backgrounds used wound up being the same backgrounds that nearly everyone we know had behind their children, as well. Based on this experience, here are my reasons for hiring a professional DC photographer.

1. You get to set an appointment ahead of time, so you don’t have to wait.

2. You can opt to have photos taken outside or in other locations, so young children won’t get bored as much. Also;

3. Being outside means your background will appear authentic and won’t be the same as the background behind your friends and family members portraits.

4. The scene is authentic, so you’re more apt to want an authentic pose as well. No waiting around for 25 minutes while the photographer tries to get your 2 year old to cross her legs, fold her hand and place her hands on one knee while providing you with her best fake smile.

5. The photo quality difference is amazing.
