I got to try a few different eye makeup products from nyx cosmetics. The first is their nude on nude eyeshadow and lip gloss pallet. It has 20 swatches of eyeshadow that range from a creamy white to black with most shades being a version of brown. I love this set because I personally am not someone to take big risks in terms of eyeshadow, I sometimes do a black/grey eyeshadow but most of the time I aim to make my lids look natural. This pallet is great for lightening the area a bit or adding a bit of shimmer. As you can see in the photo above, many of the shades on the bottom right of my arm are so close to my skin color that the camera doesn’t pick them up. The two greys and the black included make a smokey eye easy to achieve as well. There is some variation, but many of the shades are heavily pigmented. I definitely recommend this set if you like to wear natural looking eyeshadow. The set also has 10 lip gloss swatches. Though I haven’t used them much (i tend to stick to my regular stick lip glosses) there are some shades that look nice and natural on me as well as some that add some warmth and color. From the ones I’ve tried, it’s not overly sticky which I appreciate.
I also got to try out three mascaras from nyx. All three are from the boudoir mascara collection. The first is le frou frou which is for volume and length. The brush is a “regular” dome brush. I found that this mascara made my lashes appear longer, but seemed to make them look less full, but didn’t cause any clumping.
I also tried pin-up tease which has a unique brush that curves to one side. This mascara makes my lashes appear much fuller than le frou frou, but I do get some clumping with this. I also was able to notice that this does a nice job of curling my lashes.
The last mascara is la amoureux which has a curved brush which also does a good job of curling lashes without clumping.
On top of those products, I also got to test out three eyeliners from the noir eyeliner collection. All of the eyeliners in the noir collection are waterproof which I love. Eyeliner is my favorite beauty product so it’s unfortunate that I deal with some sensitivity to certain eyeliners. I was pleased to find that none of these items irritated my eyes. The skinny black liner is a twist eyeliner so you don’t need a pencil sharpener ever, which is nice and convenient. It’s incredibly skinny and works great for getting just your waterline or creating that barely there line of eyeliner.
The other two eyeliners were the satin finish black liner and the matte black liner. To be honest, I couldn’t tell a difference in these liners as far as satin vs matte appearance. The only difference I did notice was in the pencils themselves .The satin eyeliner is a traditional pencil while the matte liner is a twist up. Both are nice and pigmented making it easy to apply because you don’t have to go back over the line multiple times to get the really dark appearance.
