Prior to becoming a singer and songwriter, Melissa Green was a preschool teacher. In 2003, Melissa started singing with the children in her preschool class. The school saw how Melissa’s music resonated with the students and asked her to teach music and become a movement specialist. Melissa decided to take this a step further; she used experiences from the classroom to write and record special songs for her students.
In June of this year, Melissa released her fourth children’s CD called Sing Loud! This spirited CD features Brooke Shields making her kids’ music debut. Sing Loud! presents two duets with Melissa and Brooke.
For my review, I received a Sing Loud! CD. Melissa’s songs are good-humored and catchy. Her lyrics encourage children to be confident, embrace their unique qualities, and be respectful. These are qualities that I think every child (and some adults) needs to build on, and what better way to teach and encourage our children than through playful music….children learn best through play.
From the first time the girls (ages 3 and 5) and I listened to this CD, we were hooked. We primarily listen to music while we’re in the car; Sing Loud! has quickly become one of our favorite CDs. My girls like this CD for its fun and upbeat songs with lyrics that they can understand and relate to.
As a parent, I think Sing Loud! is a great CD for kids that aren’t necessarily ready to hear the lyrics that are in older kids/tween music but are past the nursery rhyme songs. I am a fairly conservative parent; it shocks and scares me to hear some of the words used in “normal” older kids/tween music. I am so thankful to have found a kids CD with fun songs and good principles.
Sing Loud! has a run time of 34 minutes.
Melissa’s other CD’s are- Here We Go, Round and Round and Sweet Little One.

Hello, my name is Laurie. My family and I live near the Oregon coast. When we aren’t at work, in school, or on the volleyball court, we enjoy traveling, cheering for our favorite sports teams, playing outdoors, and checking off items on our bucket list. We are lucky in that both sets of our parents, as well as our siblings and their families, live within an hour of us. We get together often to help one another out, celebrate milestones, and go on adventures together.
