I’m sure I’ve probably mentioned before that I always struggle while trying to figure out a gift for Ryan, regardless of the occasion. Valentine’s day is never any easier, because he just doesn’t seem to want many things. I almost always go with practical items that he needs. To make them a little less boring, I try to look for practical gift ideas that have a fun or fancy twist. The Remington Touch Control Beard and Stubble Trimmer certainly falls into that category. It’s not your standard trimmer for a few reasons.

The biggest reason why this trimmer will be an upgrade compared to your man’s current trimmer is how customizable the length settings are. Most trimmers have your typical 9 settings. The touch control beard and stubble trimmer has 175! It goes from .4 up to 18mm. Of course, this delivers way more options for beard lengths and the ability to style facial hair the way that you want. Another reason why this trimmer was an upgrade for Ryan was the touchscreen. To be honest, I had no idea that trimmers with touch screens existed. To change the length of the trimmer, you use the arrows on the touch screen to scroll up or down and the guard will raise or lower as you adjust it on the screen. You can tap to increase by .1 or you can press and hold to increase quickly. The touchscreen is also used to adjust the speed, as there are three speed settings available, which might be particularly useful for people with thick beards who want to slow down so they can do a more detailed job. Both the length setting and the speed setting can be locked in place by tapping the padlock on screen. This will prevent the speed and length from being changed if you accidentally bump the touch screen while using your trimmer. To unlock, you just tap the padlock symbol once more.

The blades self sharpen and self oil so you won’t have to spend money on oil and you won’t have to remember to maintenance it.

The trimmer comes with a USB cord and can be charged via your PC or regular plug-in making it really convenient to charge. The battery can go from dead to fully charged in 90 minutes. Once fully charged, it’s designed to be able to be used for 40 minutes in cordless mode. It can also be used while plugged in if needed. I love this feature because Ryan’s old trimmer couldn’t be used while plugged in, so if he forgot to charge it prior to some event we would end up running late while waiting on his trimmer to charge. While it can be used plugged in, it is recommended to use it cordless if it has been fully charged.

So far, Ryan has shaved twice with this Remington trimmer and it hasn’t needed recharged yet, so we haven’t had a chance to charge it. We wanted to get this review out for Valentine’s day which is why we’ve had the shorter test period. Despite only using it a couple of times so far, it has met or exceeded our expectations. I gave this to Ryan so that he could test it for this review, but if that weren’t the case it would have made a nice gift for him for Valentine’s day.
