The sponsor here in my blog is It’s Our Earth. They have an Etsy shop as well as a regular business website where they sell upcycled clocks, bracelets, coasters, bowls and more. I am not super crafty when it comes to reusing materials, so I struggle to be “green” in that sense, so I’m grateful for shops like It’s Our Earth who have the skill to turn used goods into updated products or gifts.
I’ve been chatting with Rich from It’s Our Earth for a few weeks now and he’s been really nice and incredibly patient with me. I can only imagine that his good nature converts over to his regular customer service related emails that he has with customers as well. Dealing with “real” people is one of the reasons why I love shopping small – the patience, understanding and sincerity is so much better than you can find at bigger chain stores.
I was able to check out a set of upcycled bike spoke bracelets from It’s Our Earth. I loved the look of the bracelets but I also love that they are made from a bike spoke. When I have had people ask me about them, they are always shocked to hear that they come from bike spokes. They are smooth and round so there is no risk of catching them on anything or getting hurt. They are primarily available in two sizes – adult small and adult large. The adult small is designed to fit wrist sizes from 7 to 7.5 inches in size. Size large is for people whose wrist is larger than 7.5 inches. Ryan is 5’11” and has an average frame for his height and his wrist measures to be just smaller than 7.75 inches around. He was able to get both bracelets on, though the small bracelet would only fit if put as high up on his wrist as possible and it was uncomfortably tight. The large bracelet fit well but had some room to move around on his wrist so it would fit a slightly larger wrist as well. So I think that the size measurements are really accurate given their descriptions. Be sure to measure your wrist prior to ordering so you’ll know if it will fit.
As you can see from the photo, the small bracelet has a loop that is shaped differently than the larger bracelet. All of their bike spoke bracelets are made out of stainless steel. I wasn’t familiar with stainless steel being used as jewelry so I googled it and it works nicely as a jewelry option seems how it is weather resistant it won’t rust or tarnish. I love jewelry that I can wear all the time without worrying about damaging it and stainless steel allows for that. Priced at $9.95 each, these bracelets are really affordable especially considering they can potentially be worn 24/7 for years. They would be a really neat gift for a bicycle enthusiast, someone who loves being “green” or just someone like me who likes unique looking jewelry that stands out but is also practical.
As I mentioned before, jewelry isn’t the only available item at It’s Our Earth. They upcycle records into clocks, bowls, notebooks and coasters. The prize for this event is an Elvis record clock or a Beatles record clock, winners pick. These would be great for music lovers and collectors. Their shop and website have tons of other artists and bands listed, most of which are priced from $24-$28. They even some really unique options such as a couple of Star Wars picture discs that have been turned into clocks.

I grew up in the sixties and seventies so you know I’m loving the upcycled vinyl. I think younger people are seeing now what we loved so much about the records and albums you can touch–nothing like digital. These products are so unique.
I like your product reviews and contest. They were unique !
