Thank you Live Clean (baby)
for providing me with products to review, free of charge,
and for sponsoring this giveaway.

These are my own honest opinions.

It always puzzled me that we clean ourselves with products full of chemicals. It’s even a bigger mystery to me that so many of the well-known and supposedly trusted brands of baby skin care products have ingredients that I can’t even pronounce (just try to say ‘methychloroisothiazolinone’ 3 times in a row!) Babies have delicate skin and their bodies and brains are developping so exposing them to chemicals at such a critical stage just doesn’t feel right. I have to admit, even I have used them for my daughter (although I was always careful to avoid some of the harshest ingredients including parabens and phtalates). I just wish there were more eco-friendly and plant-based options readily available.

live clean baby logoLuckily, I’m not the only who has that wish and Live Clean has heard us! Live Clean is a Canadian company which offers green skin care products including baby skin care products that are both eco-friendly and plant-based. Their products available at dozens of retail store chains across the US and Canada so you’re bound to find them locally. All their baby products are tear free, hypoallergenic, pediatrician tested and infused with certified organic botanical extracts of chamomile, lavender, and aloe! They are of course phtalates-free and parabens-free.

I was pleased when I found out that Live Clean (baby) is also gentle on the environment: their products are not only cruelty-free but also phosphates-free, and all products contain at least 90% of plant-based ingredients (and no petrochemical ingredients whatsoever.) Not many baby skin care products can claim to be effective, yet gentle and natural like Live Clean Baby products.

live clean ducksFor this review, I was incredibly lucky to receive 7 Live Clean (baby) products. There are actually 2 collections of products: the Live Clean (baby) collection and the Soothing Relief collection. The difference between them is that the Soothing Relief collection is enriched  natural colloidal oatmeal or oat kernel extract which makes it ideal for sensitive skin. Each collection is clearly identified with a blue duck for the Live Clean (baby) collection and a purple one for the Soothing Relief collection.

live clean productsFirst of all, I received 5 products from the Live Clean (baby) collection:

  • Foaming Wash: This is a brand new product from Live Clean and it is one of my favorite. It comes out of the bottle in a really rich lather. It is designed to gently cleanse and moisturize skin and hair. I find the pump design very convenient and easy to activate with the thumb or a couple fingers. It is easy to apply with your hands or a cloth and I like it especially for hair because it’s easy to apply the product everywhere quickly even with a squirmy toddler because it’s already in lather form. It is a tear-free formula and it has a pleasant mild floral scent. The chamomile and lavender tend to have a calming effect which is great because we bathe our daughter right before going to bed.
  • Creamy Head To Toe Wash: This is, as the name suggests, a creamy version of the Baby Wash. It contains the same botanical ingredients and has the same scent. I find it as effective to cleanse and moisturize as the foaming wash. I think it really comes down to personal preference whether you’ll prefer this over the foaming wash. I find this creamy wash works better on a sponge because it lathers more.

Creamy Head To Toe Wash and Foaming Wash – both the Soothing Relief and Live Clean (baby)

  • Bath and Massage Oil: We used to have a massage routine at night when she was younger (until our dog ate the bottle of massage oil). It was a time for her and I to relax and bond. I didn’t realize how much I missed it and how beneficial is it for her until I receive this Bath and Massage Oil. It is made of safflower oil which is non-greasy and is quickly absorbed by the skin. It leaves the skin hydrated and soft. It has a very subtle and soothing scent. As a bonus, it can also be used on mommy’s belly during pregnancy and should help with stretch marks. I attempted to take pictures of the oil in my hand and another one after massaging my daughter but this oil is quite thin and didn’t show well in the picture and it was completely absorbed after just a few seconds of rubbing. No greasy residue at all!
  • Baby Powder: This talc free powder is actually made with a blend of corn starch and baking soda, infused with the same organic botanical extracts as the other Live Clean (baby) products (chamomile, lavender, and aloe). It works really well to absorb excess moisture and I use it mostly at night time because that’s when my daughter will be in the same diaper the longest. It leaves her skin silky smooth!
  • live clean wipesBaby Wipes:  These wipes are made with natural fibers and are ultra soft. They are also quilted for extra strength and I was impressed by how thick and large they are. They really do get the job done! They contain no alcohol and no chlorine. There are 56 wipes per package and they are easily accessed through a little ‘door’ on the top. The door shuts hermetically which will prevent the wipes from drying too fast. I just wish the packaging itself was a little thicker because I punctured it by accident. I put a piece of tape on it and I hope they’ll stay moist.

I also received 2 products from the Soothing Relief collection:

  • Foaming Wash: Just like the Foaming Wash from the Live Clean (baby) collection, this is also a new product. It provides the same rich lather and is also tear-free. The main difference is that is contains oat kernel extract which is known for its soothing properties.
  • Baby Wipes: These wipes are also similar to their Live Clean (baby) counter-part. They are equally thick and soft but these ones have the added soothing benefit of oat kernel extract. I personally prefer them to the original wipes for that reason because even though it doesn’t happen very often, my daughter’s bum will sometimes get irritated and wiping her with cloth wipes or disposable wipes can be uncomfortable making these wipes a great alternative.

live clean bathOverall, I am really pleased with all the products I received from the Live Clean (baby) and Soothing Relief collections. The fact that they are eco-friendly, derived from plants (therefore vegan and biodegradable), hypoallergenic, cruelty-free, and free of harsh chemicals makes them the perfect choice for baby’s delicate skin. They are available at many retail store chains so you don’t have to visit a specialty store to find them.
