Back when I had our first child almost 9 years ago, I don’t recall hearing anything about swaddling. I remember the nurses wrapping/swaddling her up nice but there was no emphasis in continuing that pattern once we got home. Since it worked so well in the hospital, I did try at home but none of our blankets worked very well. They were either too small, too big, or too bulky. If “swaddling blankets” were on the market, I don’t recall ever coming across them. Our 4th child just turned 19 months and things had sure changed by the time we had him. Swaddling was being promoted as beneficial and there were many swaddling products on the market. I’m happy to say that swaddling really seemed to help our son sleep and he transitioned away from swaddles easily as he grew. I recently came across the company Lambie & Me, who offers 100% cotton muslin swaddles and they sent me a sample for this review.
I received the Just Dots 2-Pack Swaddle Blankets from Lambie & Me. Both swaddles are identical which is nice because many children become attached to a blanket or stuffed animal and then it’s tough for parents to find a replacement down the road if something happens to the original. We have a very important stuffed friend here who goes by the name of Bear that would cause an insane amount of chaos if she ever got lost. So I really like the idea of including two identical blankets.
The first thing I was told by Lambie & Me was to wash our Swaddle Set a couple times because they will continue to soften with each wash. While they were not silky soft upon opening, I would have had no trouble using them on a newborn right out of the package because they still felt nice. However, I did run them through the wash and dry cycle twice right away. There was a noticeable difference in the material after laundering and I hope that they will continue softening even more with each wash.

While our son is too old to be swaddled any more, I was interested in the Lambie & Me Swaddles because it would make a great blanket to cover him up with at night. These swaddles are lightweight and breathable so I won’t have to be so concerned about a blanket getting in the way of his breathing and causing problems.
