I received products from Candlewick Press for my review. All opinions are my own.

I think books make terrific books for all occasions and for all ages. I often turn to Candlewick Press for my book needs; this Easter is no exception. Candlewick Press books  were happy to send me some Easter basket gift ideas.

For our review, we received four books: Knitty Kitty, Welcome to the Bed & Biscuit, And Here’s to You!, and Judy Moody and the Bad Luck Charm.

Knitty Kitty is about a mama and her young inquisitive kittens. While the kittens play, mama knits away. The kittens can’t help but wonder what mama is knitting. Could it be a hat? What about mittens? Or maybe a scarf? Readers will be assured that mama and her kittens are warm and cozy. Knitty Kitty is suggested for ages 4-8. I think those suggested ages are a bit mature; in my opinion, ages 2-5 might be more accurate.

Welcome to the Bed & Biscuit takes readers on an adventure around Grampa’s animal boardinghouse. Three of Grampa’s helpers, Ernest, Gabby and Milly are feeling left out. They wonder what or who is taking all of Grampa’s attention. Welcome to the Bed & Biscuit is suggested for Grade 1-5. I think that is a pretty accurate age range. I think the lessons in this book are good for children younger than 1st grade, though they may need help reading.

And Here’s To You! reminds us that we are all unique and special creatures. We should celebrate or differences and know that we are all loved. And Here’s to You! is suggested for grades preschool- 2nd. I think that is a pretty good age range.

Judy Moody and the Bad Luck Charm are having a hard time in Washington D.C. Judy Moody’s day started off great. She had discovered a good luck penny in her pocket. They all of the sudden everything went wrong! What will Judy Moody do? Judy Moody and the Bad Luck Charm is suggested for ages 6-9. This series is great for young readers who enjoy chapter books.

  • I was just looking for great book recommendations for the kids baskets!

  • Great books! I really love reading to my son, even though he’s almost 10. But it’s a special bonding moment at night and I really don’t want to loose it. Hope he’ll want me to read him for years still 🙂

Little books in the Easter Basket are perfect. I like to have at least one religious reference, since that’s what we’re really celebrating, but all these choices are great. I love the Judy Moody books.
