I received products from Sterling Publishing for my review. All opinions are my own.
We are book lovers! My daughters have an extensive home library. With that said, I was recently noticing that they have outgrown several of their toddler books. It was time to pass those books along to younger family members and fill the empty spots with more age-appropriate books. We turned to Sterling Publishing for new titles.
For our review we received two story books- Puddle Pug by Kim Norman and How to Lose a Lemur by Frann Preston-Gannon.

Puddle Pug is a sweet story about Percy and his puddle adventures. Playing in puddles is fun but Percy would also like to have a friend to play with. Percy finds three piglets he would like to play with but runs into some resistance from mama pig. Will Percy and the piglets be able to form a friendship? The Puddle Pug is suggested for ages 3 and up. Our youngest daughter, Cheyenne, is a puddle jumper herself so she could easily relate to Percy’s love for puddle adventures with friends.

How to Lose a Lemur tells about a boy who has attracted a lemur at the park. The young boy isn’t sure he wants a lemur for a friend. He tries to lose the lemur but ends up getting lost himself. Will he find his way? Will he and the lemur become friends? How to Lose a Lemur is recommended for ages 3-5 however I think children ages 5-7 will also enjoy the lessons. Our oldest daughter, Savannah, found this tale to be quite fun. She has taken a liking to lemurs.

We also received several activity books for our review: First Word Search: Phonics Fun; Flash Forward Math: Grade 1; Flash Forward Math: Grade 2; Hide-and-Seek Puzzles: Animal Friends; Richard Scarry’s Best Busytown Games & Activity Book; SCRABBLE™ Word Search Puzzles for Kids; Tricky Puzzles for Clever Kids and Ultimate Puzzle Challenge: Pencil Frenzy.

Activity books are great for kids (and adults). Completing word searches as well as mazes and hide-and-seek puzzles help stimulate the brain. When my girls work on these activity books, they focus and are really excited to finish the task at hand. We try to have a couple of activity books always available. My daughters take them in the car, to restaurants and pack them on long trips. The Sterling Publishing activity books we received have creative puzzles and fun themes. They have already provided hours of entertainment.

Flash Forward Math books contain grade-appropriate math lessons. Math seems to be one of those subjects you either “get” right away or you don’t. Both of my daughters seem to “get” it but one definitely enjoys math more than the other. Cheyenne (almost 5) is whipping through Savannah’s 1st grade math assignments. Savannah (7 years old) understands her math homework and can easily complete it but she would much rather read a story book. I chose these math books to help improve their math skills and show them the fun side to math. It seems to be working.
We are very pleased with all of our new titles from Sterling Publishing.
You can find all the wonderful Sterling Publishing books on their website. You may also connect with them on twitter.

Hello, my name is Laurie. My family and I live near the Oregon coast. When we aren’t at work, in school, or on the volleyball court, we enjoy traveling, cheering for our favorite sports teams, playing outdoors, and checking off items on our bucket list. We are lucky in that both sets of our parents, as well as our siblings and their families, live within an hour of us. We get together often to help one another out, celebrate milestones, and go on adventures together.

These are all such cute books! I love the Puddle Pug, such a fun title!

Great books, they’d work well in Easter baskets! Puzzles are fun, and kids don’t even realize that they’re practicing and learning skills.

My kids love the word search and puzzle books. I will have to pick these up for them. Thanks for sharing.

We’ve never had a pug, but for some reason my daughter is super into them. I call them the ‘hit by a truck’ dog, but she thinks they’re cute.
