Lakeshore Learning is a well-known name and for good reason. They offer a large selection of learning products and toys that help keep kids engaged and having fun, all the while learning too! It’s been said time and time again that children learn best from play and Lakeshore Learning has taken this old adage to heart by creating an assortment of tools to encourage the journey of learning.
My kids are fascinated by bugs. As long as it’s their choice and one didn’t sneak up on them, that is. So the Real Bugs Discovery Kit is perfect for us. Children get up close and personal with 12 insects that have been permanently encased. The kids absolutely love that they are examining real bugs but don’t have to touch them or worry about them crawling away. Since Lakeshore Learning has included a fact book, it’s the perfect combination of learning and fun. The kids enjoy matching the bug to the picture in the book and I love that we can learn some new facts about each specimen as well. One way that we’ve turned this into a game is by “hiding” (placing them easily around a room so I don’t forget where I put them all) them and the kids race around to find and match them back up to their spots in the included display tray. Fun for all!
The other product we have been enjoying is the Dino Dig Excavation Kit. I have a 4 year old who is infatuated with dinosaurs right now so this was a big hit with him. This set includes 24 plastic dinosaur skeletons, 4 plastic sieves, and 4 brushes. This set is perfect for a sensory table. Mixed in with sand, rice, straw, or another material, kids would love going on a dino dig and moms don’t have to worry about the pieces getting lost. I don’t have my table out currently, so we are playing carefully in our sand box and putting them away each time we’re finished. So far so good since we haven’t lost any!

I love anything dino related and have a long wish list with Lakeshore Learning. This is such a unique activity that I’m sure any kid would love a chance to play with these kits.
