Thank you to Nutrisystem for providing me with product in exchange for this honest blog review. All opinions are 100% my own.
During my first two weeks on Nutrisystem, I didn’t have any problems sticking to the plan. It was easy for me. I was never hungry. I felt great! This last week hasn’t been so easy. What’s the problem? I have my period. When it’s that lovely time of the month, I get hungry, cold, and sleepy. Like many women, I also have cramps, bloating, and retain water. (I read that some women temporarily gain up to five pounds while having their periods.)
On the first day of my period, I found myself going to the kitchen several times, just standing there. I “needed” something to satisfy a craving and warm me from the inside out. However, I didn’t want to completely blow the success I had in the previous weeks. I decided to make a pot of hot “Sweet & Spicy” tea. I sipped on the soothing tea all day long. It was exactly what I needed and it didn’t derail me from the program. The hot tea worked so well, I made a pot of tea the next two days. It really saved me from sabotaging myself. I am happy I found something that works. I am proud of myself for sticking to the plan.
My progress this week shows-
Weight loss- 3.2 pounds
Arms- no change
Chest- lost 1 inch
Waist- no change
Hips- lost 1 inch
Thighs- lost 2 inches
Calves- no change
TOTAL- This week I lost 3.2 pounds and 4 inches. My overall total is 7.2 pounds and 13.5 inches gone!
Can you believe that?! In the middle of having my period, I still lost weight. I look forward to seeing my results when all of the period symptoms have dissipated.

Hello, my name is Laurie. My family and I live near the Oregon coast. When we aren’t at work, in school, or on the volleyball court, we enjoy traveling, cheering for our favorite sports teams, playing outdoors, and checking off items on our bucket list. We are lucky in that both sets of our parents, as well as our siblings and their families, live within an hour of us. We get together often to help one another out, celebrate milestones, and go on adventures together.

That is so great that you found a good alternative! I’ve been in your shoes and finding something that works is hard.

I need to get back to tea, especially now that fall is here, it is nice! and I just made homemade chocolates with hemp hearts, cocoa, coconut oil and honey, vanilla this morning and just had to sample, them, too. They came out good, very tempting. As soon as I get home, I putting on tea for tonight! I have some cinnamon spice, that taste like cinnamon hots. Hopefully I forget about the chocolate!

I am beyond those period days due to a hysterectomy, but I still ovulate and find I still have hormonal shifts. I do find that a good cup of tea will make me feel better during the day.

The tea was a good idea. It keeps your hands busy and your taste buds satisfied. It is impressive you lost 3.2 pounds this week, way to go!!! I too am past the period stage but I think everyone has cravings now and again!

You are doing fantastic! I tel you, when I was in my 20s I would find myself mysteriously holding a bag of potato chips that I had no idea where they even came from; that’s how I knew that my period was coming. True story!

congratulations! I am going through the same dilemma. I have been making low cal instant hot chocolate packs…. it seems to manage my chocolate cravings without over-indulging

Congratulations! I can definitely see how hard it would be to stick to a diet plan while on your period, I usually want the stereotypical chocolate when I’m on mine! 😉 Your idea of making a pot of tea is brilliant!! I will be trying this next month for sure. Thanks for sharing!
