I am a Nutrisystem nation blogger. All opinions are my own.
Nutrisystem recommends that people on their plan do 150 minutes per week of exercise in any form. That averages out to about 21-22 minutes per day if you workout everyday. Ryan tries to do an hour of exercise every other day, so he exceeds that suggestion by quite a bit. Keep in mind that exercise doesn’t have to be boring. You can dance, go for a walk, ride a bike, ice skate – whatever it is that is the most enjoyable form of exercise for you.
Exercise isn’t as effective at assisting in weight loss as calorie-counting is. To lose about 1 pound per week, you have to have a calorie deficit of about 500 calories per day. Running at 5mph for 20 minutes only burns about 180 calories! So you would have to do about an hour of intense exercise to burn 500 calories. It’s much easier to just eat 500 calories less than you need to maintain. Ryan is thankful that Nutrisystem makes it quick and easy for him to maintain a low calorie level through their meal plan!
Still, exercise is important. It’s great for your heart and blood pressure. It’s great for building physical stamina. However, it can also be great for your emotional or mental health. Ryan has commented to me that he feels better about himself when he manages to make time to workout every other day, regardless of what is going on in the rest of his life. Prioritizing his health always makes him feel good, and when you feel good about yourself it’s easier to stick to your meal plan and do other positive things.
We were at a thrift store this week and were surprised to find a big selection of exercise equipment at really low prices. There were a handful of exercise bikes, treadmills and more for under $20 each. You don’t have to invest a lot of money to get workout equipment that you can use from home.
Do you workout? Does it assist your self confidence?

I try and work out as much as I can. It isnt I admit as much as it should be especially in the winter. I love to walkk the dog, and it is a but icy for that , but walking is the best. It clears my mind, and the dog likes it too.
