Thank you to Nutrisystem for providing me with products in exchange for this honest blog review. All opinions are 100% my own.

We are going camping! Growing up we did a lot of camping. We had an annual camping trip with my parents’ coworkers. We went to a fairly close by (about an hour from home) campground and stayed for a week. My younger brother and I had a lot of kids our age to hang out with. The campground had an amphitheater. The park rangers put on nightly family movies and then during the days they had other kids activities like an arts & craft project, scavenger hunt, nature walk, safety lessons and so on. It was easily the highlight of our summers.

Today we are setting out for that very same campground! I haven’t been there for…probably 25 years?! For years, I have wanted to take MY family camping there. It was one of those “some day” things. In July I decided I had put it off long enough. I didn’t think I had much of a chance of getting a camping spot because 1- back in the day we had to make our reservations a year in advance and 2- it’s Labor day weekend. Well as luck would have it, I was able to reserve one of the last remaining spots. To say I am excited is an understatement!

You may be wondering how I am going to stay on my Nutrisystem plan while we are gone? That is a good question. Oregon is on Fire Restricted status. This means no campfires, no warming fires, and only propane and butane barbecues are allowed at this time.  Why the Fire Restricted status? Oregon currently has thirteen wildfire complexes larger than 1,000 acres. Six of those thirteen are over 10,000 acres in size. The Chetco Bar Fire is our largest fire at 117,669 acres and the second largest is the Nena Springs fire at 68,135 acres. So, I plan to prepare our meals on our single burner propane camp stove. I also selected Nutrisystem foods that don’t need to be heated, just in case our stove doesn’t work. Food preparations will be tricky, but it will be a fun adventure. I secretly like the challenge!

Our weather for this weekend is expected to have highs near 100 and lows around 60. With the high temps, it is going to be even more important for me to stay on my Nutrisystem plan. When I combine warm/hot weather, a lot of activity and junk food, it is a recipe for disaster. I will get sick. Obviously, I don’t want to be sick and ruin my weekend. I will stay on plan, drink a lot of water and seek refuge in the shade when possible. I am so excited!

I hope you and yours have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!
