Today, I would like to introduce you to a company named Dunitz & Company. Dunitz & Company specializes in handmade jewelry from Guatemala.

Dunitz & Company founder, Nancy, fell in love with the people of Guatemala while on a trip there in 1989. While touring, she noticed all the beautiful art being created by locals- weavings, paintings, carvings and more. Nancy knew that with the tough economy, political unrest, and minimal tourism, locals didn’t have an outlet for selling their goods. She had a vision to work with local artisans to design products that would appeal to US buyers and to create an opportunity for them to sell their goods. Thus, Dunitz & Company was born.

In 2011, Nancy debuted a line called the Joanie M collection. Joanie M collection is named after Nancy’s mom. This collection is comprised of beautiful fused-glass jewelry. Some of my favorites from the Joanie M collection include the Glass Dots stud earrings, Double Moon Glass Earrings, and the Glass Tiny Round Earrings. All of these earrings were handmade in Guatemala. They all have surgical steel ear wires/posts. Glass Dots stud earrings, Double Moon Glass Earrings, and the Glass Tiny Round Earrings are available in a rainbow of color combinations. Each pair of earrings is truly one of a kind!

I absolutely love the items I received from Dunitz & Company. I plan to gift them this holiday season. I look forward to seeing each of the recipients’ reactions when they open their gift.
