I am looking to add a new writer to my team. If you’ve wanted to be a product reviewer, please read on to learn what this position entails before applying.
This is not a paid position.
You will be able to partner directly with brands and can accept “free” products from the brands in exchange for the work you will do.
You will be able to decide which products to accept or reject. You are never told you have to review a product, it will always be based on what you or your family members want, need or can use.
You will need to email with brands to negotiate the partnership, test/use the items you are sent, photograph the items you are sent, edit the photos, write detailed reviews and edit those posts. For some posts you will also make basic graphics by adding text or overlays to photos using a program like Picmoney or photoshop.
All writers for my site must write one non-sponsored post per month. This can be sharing a recipe, tips/advice, a craft or DIY project, among other things.
Once you have a little experience, you will be able to reach out to brands on behalf of my blog to try to secure partnerships with the brands of your choice. I will start you out by having you accept offers that are emailed to me, but once you have experience you will be expected to get a majority of your work through contacting companies that you want to work with.
Blogging is more work than it appears. It takes about 1.5 hours of time to do a simple review post when you factor in emailing the brand, photos, photo editing, etc. Please only apply if you are comfortable with dedicating that much time per post.
You do not need experience with blogging or reviews to apply. I fully expect to show this person the ropes.
In the past when I have put up an application for writers I’ve had many longtime dedicated readers apply. I would hate for any of our readers to feel like they weren’t worthy of the position. I want to be upfront about how I have sort of an “ideal writer” in mind in terms of age, position in life, and so on. I am saying this upfront so that anyone who does not get accepted, don’t feel like this is necessarily because you are not a good enough writer or anything like that. It may just be that you aren’t the best age or at the best spot in life that is best suited for writing for this blog. We do have a primary demographic and we want our writers to be similar to our readers so that the content is relevant. The application form is going to be a bit time-consuming so I would recommend saving this page and coming back to apply if you only have 10 or 15 minutes. One of the questions mid-way through asks you to write a mock review as if it were going up on my blog, so that question may take quite a bit of time on its own.
I will keep the form open for responses for one week, closing it on Wednesday September 5th.

I loe your blog, but even as a non blogger I know how time consuming it can be! I have ‘guest’ posted for a few logs before and really was amazed at the dedication it takes. I hope you find your person, everyone you have now are enjoyable to read, and your posts are always interesting. Some, it might not apply to me personally, but finding out about new brands I can always pass along.

I would love to be a reviewer for you! About 6 years ago, I shut down my personal blog, where I was reviewing products myself, because we were moving and traveling all over the country. We have been stable now for a couple of years and I would love to get back into the groove! I love discovering new products and sharing my honest opinions of them!
