I always thought I had thinner hair. It wasn’t until recently when I said that to my hair stylist that she said I actually had finer hair but a lot of it. Which doesn’t really make it thin hair. Either way I have a few tricks up my sleeve that I use to make my hair look more full and thick!
Tip 1
Use an eyeshadow similar to your hair color to fill in your hair line. Below is a picture without any hair line filling.
Tips for fuller hair
The in between brown color shown here will work.

This is a picture with one side of my hairline filled so you can see directly the difference. On the left is no fill, on the right is filled. I choose to use a shadow color that’s similar but slightly lighter than my actual hair color. As you can see it brought my hairline closer to my face near the temples and eliminated the part line at the center of my forehead. The key is to make sure that you blend well into the scalp. This is best down with dry hair and really accentuates a pony tail! Just make sure you wipe off any fall out that might happen on your forehead, which I forgot to do before taking this picture. *facepalm*
Tip 2
Add a little curl to your hair. I use a straightener twisted to add a little bit of texture to my layers and usually no spray at all. If I want to add volume at my crown then I focus the curls there.
Tip 3
Have layers cut into your hair and ask your stylist to texturize those layers and your ends. Even if your hair is really thin this can help add depth.
Tip 4
Fill in your eyebrows. Now this seems like it has nothing to do with your actual hair but a fuller brow only adds to the complete full and contrasting look of where starts and ends and how much is really there. I use a dampened brush in a brow powder and make small swipes in the direction of brow hair growth until they begin to look fuller. My favorite tip here to is to almost go outside the brow lines and then wipe  both brows once with a dampened towel to get the excess but still accentuate the shape and contrast because the hair holds the shadow. In the picture below the left eyebrow is not filled and right is.

Tip 5
I blow dry my hair upside down.

Straight after the shower I do the traditional hair towel wrap but only for about 10 minutes. After ten minutes I take my hair down and brush it with my head upside down brushing and blow drying straight down towards the floor. Even if I decide to curl or straighten my hair this technique gives me incredible volume at my roots. Adding a mousse or volumizing product at this point would also lift your hair but I choose not to as it seems to actually weigh my hair down too much.

My goodness, what great tips! I have always had very thick hair and lots of it. However, with some changes in life, I have noticed changes in my hair and it seems my hair is not as thick as it once was. Love these suggestions and I will certainly try them.

I keep my hair very short since I swim 3 times a week. My eyebrows would look funny in grey.

Thank you for the information. I have thin hair too and it is thinning because I am older. I will try some of what you said. Thank you.

Great tips, thank you. I have totally flat and limp hair, so it is fun to have it look more full and glamourous.

These are fantastic tips. I love the way you did your eyebrows they look great. I have noticed thinning eyebrows too as I have aged and I am a blonde which makes it even worse. I use several of these tips already !

I brush my hair upside down and do some scrunching at the top to give it some height and volume. I hadn’t thought of the other hints. They are very helpful.

I have very fine hair also. I totally agree with the layers suggestion – it really helps me.
