American apparel sent me clothing for review. All opinions are my own.
Have you noticed that it’s getting harder to find 100% cotton clothing in most stores? So much clothing is made of other fabrics these days. Even multipack socks and underwear are often not cotton-based anymore. I’ve stopped buying anything without checking the tag. I am sensitive to different textures, and I really do not like the feeling of some of the materials that are being used for clothing these days. I don’t neccesarily require 100% cotton, but if clothing isn’t at least primarily cotton, then odds are high that i’ll have an aversion to the feeling.
So, I was excited to discover that American Apparel is one brand that is continuing to make lots of 100% cotton clothing! they make a lot of unisex clothing, and I unfortuantely didn’t think through what size I ordered. Women probably want to order one size down when ordering unisex clothing. So, these all fit rather big on me. However, I am hoping to get pregnant this summer so I plan to keep these to wear then!

I was sent six shirts, in four different styles.

I was sent two 7PP AA® 13ML0 shirt’s, these are heavyweight 100% cotton shirts that have a boxy cut. Meaning these aren’t as long as some other shirts, and are a bit wide. They have a wider collar than usual, too. I am only 5’1″ so the length on these worked out better for me than some of the other fits were. I also like the collar, it just changes things up a bit versus a super standard t-shirt. These are nice and thick due to being heavyweight.

I was also sent two AA® 2006CVC style shirts. This is a v-neck and this one is 60% ring spung cotton and 40% polyester. To me, the touch of these shirts feels close enough to cotton that it ‘counts’ and doesn’t cause me any texture aversions. These shirts are thinner than the others, making them a nice option for hot summer days, I imagine!

Next up, I Got one AA® 1301GD shirt. This is a really awesome, really basic shirt. 100% cotton, heavyweight, pretty typical cut. If you’re just looking for a really reliable, heavyweight t this is a great choice.
Lastly, I got this AA® 9001 t-shirt. This one is 80% ring-spung cotton which is plenty enough for it to feel like cotton to me, which is my main concern. I chose this one becuase it came in this “smokey violet” color. I love purple, and pink is another favorite color of mine so I just loved this unique smoky pink-ish-purple-ish color option for a t shirt. This is considered a ‘super heavyweight’ shirt making it really thick, but I still found it comfortable to wear. Super sturdy!
You can find American Apparel clothing on Amazon, and at so many other retailers.
