Do you have a golf fan on your Christmas list who already owns lots of golf balls? Golf Pong turns the classic short game challenge into a fun activity the whole family can enjoy.
Golf Pong is a portable chipping game that mixes golf with the fun and competition of a backyard party game. Instead of aiming for a hole, you chip soft Velcro balls at a large target board. If your shot sticks to a target, you’re one step closer to winning. The company also offers the Original Golf Pong game and Chip Tac Toe, a floating chipping game for the pool, beach, or backyard. Both games put a playful spin on golf and don’t require a tee time or much golf experience. In our Holiday Gift Guide, I’m featuring the Golf Pong Original 1-Board Set.
What’s Included With Golf Pong?
This Original set has everything you need to start playing, and it won’t take up your whole backyard. It comes with a 31.5-inch target board with six removable rings, a turf hitting mat, 16 Velcro balls, and a travel bag. The lightweight frame is easy to assemble by hand, and everything packs up neatly when you’re done. Part of the fun is being able to take Golf Pong anywhere. Set it up in the backyard, bring it camping, take it to the park, a tailgate, or even the beach. Since you use soft balls instead of real golf balls, you can play in more places. If the weather isn’t great, you can bring the game inside as long as you have enough open space.
How Do You Play Golf Pong?
Getting started is simple. Assemble the frame, tighten the target mat, and set up the six removable targets on the board. Place the turf hitting mat at a distance that works for your group. Grab your golf club and start chipping! Players take turns hitting Velcro balls at the board. If a ball sticks to a target, remove that target. The goal is to clear all six targets.

Golf Pong is recommended for ages 8 and up, so it’s a safe backyard game for kids, teens, and adults to play together. The soft Velcro balls are made for safe outdoor use, but adults should supervise younger players. Keep small parts away from children under 3 years old.

With the one-board version, two players or teams take turns trying to clear the same board, counting how many shots each side takes. Whoever clears it in the fewest tries wins. But you don’t have to stick to just one set of rules. Move farther back as players get better. Let younger kids hit from a closer spot. You can assign different point values to targets, try trick shots, challenge everyone to clear the board in order, or skip scoring and just see who can make the wildest shot. That’s one reason Golf Pong is perfect for family gatherings: you can adjust the challenge for whoever is playing.
Practice Your Short Game Without Calling It Practice
Golfers might notice another benefit: you can practice your chipping accuracy while having fun. Set up Golf Pong in the backyard and see if you can clear all six targets. Count your shots and try to beat your last score. As you improve, move the hitting mat farther back. Soon, practicing your short game feels more like playing than working. You don’t have to be a golfer to enjoy Golf Pong. It’s easy for beginners to learn, and it’s constantly satisfying to see the Velcro ball finally stick to the target you’ve been aiming for.
A Gift That Gets Everybody Playing
Some Christmas gifts get opened, admired, and then set aside. Golf Pong is the kind of gift that might get set up before Christmas dinner even starts. The set is built to last. The sturdy materials stand up to repeated play, and the weather-resistant target board and hitting mat can handle outdoor conditions, so it’s great for your backyard or the park. It’s a great choice for golfers, competitive families, teens, parents, grandparents, backyard game fans, campers, and anyone who enjoys a little friendly competition. The Original set fits in its travel bag, making it easy to bring along whenever you need another game at a get-together.

Whether you want to improve your golf skills or just win bragging rights with your family, Golf Pong turns a simple chipping challenge into a game everyone will want to play again.

Hello, my name is Laurie. My family and I live near the Oregon coast. When we aren’t at work, in school, or on the volleyball court, we enjoy traveling, cheering for our favorite sports teams, playing outdoors, and checking off items on our bucket list. We are lucky in that both sets of our parents, as well as our siblings and their families, live within an hour of us. We get together often to help one another out, celebrate milestones, and go on adventures together.
