I love regular homemade popcorn as well as movie theater popcorn and kettlecorn, so I was excited to try out twelve different flavors that are offered at dale and thomas popcorn. Yet, I had no idea what to expect because I didn’t think popcorn could possibly vary enough to make 12 different flavors. I had never tried gourmet popcorn before. I wound up having to expand my understand of “popcorn”. See, I think of popcorn as that plain stuff with butter on it, and maybe some salt. Although I like kettlecorn, I kind of separate it into its own category. Then, there’s all the options you can find at Dale and Thomas. It’s a small detail, but I loved how Dale and Thomas Popcorn bags are actually full of popcorn. They don’t play the “half-full bag” game that basically all other chip/snack companies do. I love this for two reasons. The first being, they aren’t trying to trick their customers. Their customers are receiving exactly as much popcorn as they think they are. And two, it’s better for the environment. Why waste the material for a bag that is twice as big as it needs to be? I wish more chip and snack companies would follow the dale and thomas lead and use appropriately sized bags! Anyway, many of the bags I received had either white chocolate, chocolate or caramel coverings, making them a great choice for satisfying your sweet tooth. The 12 sampler bags arrived in an adorable box. I tried out a few right away. I’m a huge fan of white cheddar, so I wasn’t at all surprised when I LOVED the white cheddar popcorn. I also adored the North Country Cheddar which reminded me of flavored popcorn that i’ve purchased in stores, except the popcorn pieces were perfectly coated, without having clumps of flavoring in some spots and bare in others, like most popcorn you’d buy in the chip aisle. I wasn’t familiar with chipotle, even though I’ve heard some people talk about it like it’s the best thing since sliced bread. I was a bit hesitant as I wasn’t sure BBQ-like popcorn would be enjoyable for someone like me who only has a mild interest in BBQ. I was pleasantly surprised though, as I really enjoyed the cheddar chipotle popcorn. It had more of a cheddar taste than a BBQ one, but the BBQ/chipotle taste came in almost as a kick after the cheddar hits you – I liked how it did that.
I don’t mind caramel, but I’m not a huge fan. Yet, I also really enjoyed the Dale’s Caramel flavor. It was a perfect sweet tooth type of snack, as it was nice and sweet while being an enjoyable, light snack. I was really impressed that I found four types of popcorn that I really enjoyed as I’m a very picky eater. Seems how I don’t like chocolate, I had Ryan try out the others. His favorite was Chocolate Chunk N Caramel popcorn, he said he loved how they got a perfect combination of both chocolate in caramel, without either one overpowering the other. He prefers milk chocolate to dark, so he also really enjoyed the twice as nice chocolate drizzlecorn, which is a combination of milk chocolate and white chocolate.
All of the bags got eaten up really quickly. Dale and Thomas also sell a variety of popcorn tins with 3 types of popcorn in each tin. They would be perfect for gift giving. I think I’ll keep dale and thomas in mind for fathers day! In fact, they have a crate full of popcorn designed especially for fathers day!
