I’m really particular when it comes to jewelry. I’m allergic to nickle so I stick to sterling silver or gold jewelry. I’m pretty cheap though, so I tend to find a set that is really special to me and buy it and then wear it 24/7 instead of swapping my jewelry out regularly. I want my jewelry to represent me, feel special to me and go with just about anything that I choose to wear. I found a gorgeous pair of handmade earrings at Julie Ellyn Designs that fit all of these requirements for me – her Star Struck Sterling Silver earrings. They’re sterling so they won’t irritate my skin, they are simplistic but pretty – going with any outfit I put on. They represent me because I have had an obsession with stars since I was about 14. In high school, probably 1/4 of my shirts had stars on them. While my obsession has faded since then, I still really like them.

These earrings are smaller in person than they appear in the photo because of the way they are photographed, making them large enough to be noticed but not so big that they get in the way or alter the way that I move around while wearing them. These earrings were a perfect match for my needs and I really like them. The only thing I was bummed about was the backing on the earrings were those teeny tiny rubbery backings with holes that slides around the post. I always lose them because of their incredibly tiny size and that happened the very first time I went to put these on. Without the backs, the front of the earring falls down instead of staying in place so i’ll need to go get some new backs. Otherwise, I couldn’t be happier with these earrings and plan to wear them all the time. They are really gorgeous and are so perfect that they almost don’t seem handmade.

I rarely find multiple pieces of jewelry that I like in one spot, but I also really like the Gemstone Beaded Leather Cuff Bracelet from Julie Ellyn that has red, white and black beads.
