I recently got into Bonsai gardening. I’d love to have my own garden, and definitely plan to in the future, but at the moment I live in an apartment. Therefore, I’m stuck with whatever I can grow on my balcony. Bonsai gardening is perfect for an apartment, because the bonsai “trees” are small enough to fit on a balcony, and some can even grow inside. I was lucky enough to be able to review a Bonsai Tree from The Soothing Company.

The Soothing Company’s Small Gardenia Bonsai Tree is really adorable. I also really love the pot it came in, it’s a vibrant, beautiful blue color. This bonsai tree is 4 years old, and about eight inches in height. It’s been really well groomed, and trimmed. It definitely has the look of a tiny tree, and it didn’t require much of any additional grooming on my part.
I’m somewhat educated on Bonsai gardening, but this Bonsai tree came with a little booklet that explained how to care for the tree, which was really nice. It’s fairly easy to take care of. It just requires watering every day, and 4-6 hours of sunlight each day. It can be kept indoors or outdoors, as long as it gets sunlight.
The Gardenia Bonsai tree has white flowers that will bloom in the summer. You can see the starting of buds here:
The buds on this bonsai tree are just starting to bloom now, and they’re a really nice fragrance. I can’t wait until it fully blooms, it will certainly make the apartment smell really nice.

This is so ironic…my son was just telling me this morning that he wants his own bonsai tree! Of course, he really wants to carve it into some bizarre shape like he saw in a video this weekend but that is 13 year old boys for you! I love this!

This would be a really good bonsai tree for that. You should also get him some tools, copper wire, and weights. This is a really good beginner bonsai tree, since it already has the “tree” look, which takes a few years to get. Your son could then trim, and use the wire and weights to shape it as he likes. I love the strange looking bonsai trees!
