All my life, I have never been a really sound sleeper.  From little on, I insisted on sleeping with a fan blowing on me because I would wake up hot and uncomfortable.  This issue only gets worse for me when I’m expecting.  Thankfully, Comfort Revolution has some products to aid with this common problem and they sent me their Queen Hydraluxe Cool Case for review.

Funny story from my first pregnancy:  My husband was talking to his mom one day when I was about 6 or 7 months pregnant with our daughter.  He was telling her how I couldn’t sleep at night and was always hot.  Then he changed the subject and started talking about the dog who wasn’t sleeping well either and would roam the house at night and wake him up.  Finally, his mom asked, “Well, what are you going to do about it?”  He replied, “I’m going to make her sleep in the entry way!”  His mom was shocked and yelled at him and said that he couldn’t do that. Of course, my husband responded with a “Well, I’m going to throw her a pillow down there.”  Completely floored, his mom let him know that it was not okay to make his pregnant wife sleep in the entry way, pillow or not.  That’s when he realized the misunderstanding and cleared the air.  It’s been over nine years and the family still gets a laugh out of this story every time it’s retold.

I received the Queen size Hydraluxe Cool Case from Comfort Revolution for this review.  Initially, I was really surprised at how heavy this pillow case is.  That fact alone made me realize that this was no typical pillow case cover.  The Hydraluxe Cool Case has a built in cooling gel technology that can be used to cover any pillow.  The gel technology is made to keep you cooler longer.  The case is made from a breathable mesh cover that is both soft and flexible.  However, the best part is that the Hydraluxe Cool Case is machine washable.  Just unzip and remove the inner gel panel and proceed to machine wash with cold water and dry on low heat.  The gel insert can be spot cleaned when needed but should not be placed in the washer or dryer.

While the Hydraluxe Cool Case did have a very slight odor when I first opened the package, the site says this is normal for the newly manufactured gel and is considered safe.  By letting the case air out for up to 72 hours, the odor should be fully eliminated.  I only let mine air out for a day as I didn’t find the smell very strong at all.

After sleeping on the Hydraluxe Cool Case, I don’t want to use a normal pillow case again.  I typically have to flip my pillow multiple times throughout the night to find a cool and comfortable spot but have found relief with this Comfort Revolution product and no longer have the need to flip.  While this case may not solve my pregnancy insomnia, it will at least allow me some comfort when I am tired.  If you find yourself constantly struggling to find a cool spot on your pillow, check out what Comfort Revolution has to offer.
