I received products from WackaDoodle Books for my review. All opinions are my own.

As many of you know, my daughters (ages 5 and 7) LOVE books. What some of you may not know is that my husband and I read with our girls almost every night. Reading bedtime books has been a part of our bedtime routine since they were just a few months old. My husband is the parent who reads with them on a more regular basis. Since I’m a stay-at-home Mom and am able to spend more time with them throughout the day, this bedtime ritual is his special time with just the girls.

When WackaDoodle Books reached out to review books for Father’s day, I thought that it was the perfect gift for my daughters to give to my husband. I went through the large selection of books at WackaDoodle and found eight books that had a dad in the story and had plot lines that I felt would intrigue my daughters. For our review, we received: Bad Dad, Enemy Pie, Jessica, My Father’s Dragon, Our Tree Named Steve, Owl Moon, Perfect Shade of Green, and When a Dad Says I Love You.

Bad Dad by Derek Munson tells about all the trouble dad gets into; dad does things differently than mom. Then it tells about the fun that can be had with dad. I think this book is a good reminder that even though dad may do things in a different way than mom, neither way is wrong.

Enemy Pie, also by Derek Munson, teaches readers not to judge people; to give everyone a fair chance. Someone who you may think could never be your friend might turn out to be your very best friend. Thanks to dad’s quick thinking, a relationship was saved and a friendship was made.

Jessica by Kevin Henkes, shares a story about a little girl and her friend. Some doubted the friendship existed. They ended up being surprised at the end of the story. I think this is a cute book that reminds us why friends are so special.

My Father’s Dragon by Ruth Stiles Gannett, is about a child sharing their father’s past adventures. The story goes that the young boy ran off to a wild island in hopes of rescuing a baby dragon. This is an exciting story filled with animal fun and adventure.

Our Tree Named Steve by Alan Zweibel tells about a tree named Steve. Steve has had quite the life; it is full of family bonding, life milestones, and good friends. I think this book is a great way to help children understand that people come and go in our lives. Even though we may not see them as often, they are still in our hearts.

Owl Moon by Jane Yolen, takes us on an adventure as dad and daughter go owling. While they journey through the forest, the two are silent. This gives them time to nurture the special bond between father and child. My daughters absolutely adore their dad. This book reminded me a lot of them. They love spending time with him no matter what they are doing.

Perfect Shade of Green by Brian Barlics, is a heartwarming story about Cami the Chameleon. Cami is a one-of-a-kind individual and she is proud of it! Cami refuses to change colors for anything or anyone. I love this book. I think it is a great way to let readers know that we are all unique and that special uniqueness is something to celebrate.

When a Dad Says I Love You by Douglas Wood, is an adorable story about the many ways dads say and show their love for their kids. Even if dad doesn’t say the words, I love you, he demonstrates his love for us many times a day.

You can find these titles and many more on the WackaDoodle Books website. You may also connect with them on facebook, twitter and pinterest.

One lucky winner is going to receive a copy of Bad Dad and a $50 store credit. This credit can be used for books with a combined retail value of up to but not over $50. Shipping and handling will be free of charge. This is a US giveaway that will end on 5/21/2014.
