Now that Spring is here, it’s time to start planning for Summer.  The BBQs, beach days, park stops, and warm days will be here before we know it.  I like to have a Summer Bag packed and stashed in the back of our vehicle along with some other items so I’m prepared for all the Summer Fun that awaits.

1:)  Swimsuits-  We keep a suit in the vehicle for each one of us in case we have an unexpected half hour to stop at the beach or splash pad to cool off and splash in the water.

2:)  Beach Towels-  These come in handy, not only for those impromptu water stops but also to use for picnics or a clean place to sit at the park.

3:)  Umbrellas-  I keep a couple child size and at least one adult size umbrella in the car all Summer long.  They are great to help shield us from the sun on the really hot days.  We like to have them handy for parades as well.  It gets really hot while we sit waiting for the parades to start so the umbrellas are a nice break from the sun.

4:)  Sunblock-  While I know it would be best to just apply sunblock to everyone at the beginning of each Summer day, it just doesn’t happen.  So I like to keep a spare bottle in our car for the times that we forgot to apply before leaving home.  Thankfully, this has prevented the kids from ever getting sunburned.

5:)  Bug Spray-  Here in the land of 10,000 lakes, we have mosquitos and other pesky bugs.  Having a bottle of bug spray on hand in our vehicle has allowed us to enjoy the great outdoors on days and evenings where we otherwise would have had to flee to the shelter of home.
