Thank you to Brylane Home for providing me with a product, free of charge, for review. All opinions are my own.
Summer is finally here and that means BBQs, backyard bashes, neighborhood block parties, and fun. For our family, it will also mean birthday parties. For the hosts of these gatherings, stress may also be involved. I have compiled a list of products and ideas that can help make the day run smoother.
1:) Start By Making Lists: Guests Invited/Attending, Food Ideas, Grocery List For Party, and Things That Must Get Done.
I find it much easier to keep track of guest numbers, food & beverage ideas, and things I need to do if I write them down. I can tell at a glance the number of guests expected instead of trying to count in my head each time I need to remember. The act of crossing things off of my “Things That Must Get Done” list also gives me a sense of accomplishment as I finish each task.
2:) Prepare For Weather & Outdoor Elements: There is never a guarantee on what the day will hold weather wise. A garage, tent, or shelter of some sort can assure you that the guests will be protected from any rain showers or even the hot sun. BrylaneHome has a variety of outdoor gazebos that would offer perfect protection. I also find it imperative to have sunblock and bug spray on hand so we have enough to share for any guests who are in need.
3:) Games: It’s Summer so a variety of yard games are always a hit. There are the classics like Croquet, Bocce Ball, and Bean Bag Toss but there are many other options available as well. Another fun idea is a kids swimming pool filled with water and water balloons. (The water in the pool keeps the balloons from popping.) This can be a big hit for all ages and a great way to cool down on really hot days. I also like to have some card games and board games on hand in case on inclement weather.
4:) Cool Beverages & Yummy Food: There is nothing worse than running out of beverages or food during a Summer BBQ. I like to have a variety of choices available that appeal to both kids and adults. For Drinks: I like to serve pink lemonade, punch, and water. For Food: To go with the main grilling coarse of burgers, hotdogs, and brats, I like to have a variety of fresh fruit, chips, pickles, and a salad or two. Our family favorites are “Dirt Salad” and “Taco Salad”. We keep our food cool and fresh by placing the bowls in a children’s swimming pool that has been filled with ice.
BrylaneHome has a Galvanized Drink Dispenser On A Stand that conveniently helps serve up beverages while adding color and style to any party. This Dispenser holds just over 3 gallons. The blue color is stylish and fun and will definitely draw attention. Every person who has seen it on my cupboard has made a comment about it. The spout on the side is high enough that most glasses will fit underneath, the handles make for easy carrying, and the stand adds the perfect finishing touch to this set. I would love to see an insulated version of this product but for now, I just freeze a chunk of whatever beverage I will serve in it and that keeps the entire Dispenser’s liquids cool without watering it down with ice.
3 Ingredient Punch Recipe:
~1 Can Frozen Orange Juice
~1 Bottle Lemon Lime Sierra Mist
~I Bottle Berry Flavored Juicy Juice
Mix all three ingredients well, chill, and serve. This is a simple recipe that everyone loves, including the people who don’t even like punch!

I’m a city girl turned country by my awesome husband and we have three busy boys and two darling daughters. I love spending time with my family, reading Karen Kingsbury novels, and catching up with friends while our kiddos have play dates. I’m blessed beyond measure and can’t wait to see what God has in store.
