There is an estimated 27.4 billion disposable diapers used each year in the US.  The results equal about 3.4 million tons of used diapers ending up in landfills every single year.  Adding in the fact that it takes anywhere from 200 to 500 years for those diapers to decompose, means there must be a more environmentally friendly way.  Enter Rock-A-Bums.

I was sent the Zanadu 2.0 with 2 Reusable Inserts from Rock-A-Bums to test out.  I received the velcro closure but they also offer their products in the snap option.  I’ve found that this is truly a personal preference.  I thought I was a “snap mama” but now that I’m cloth diapering a newborn for the first time, I’ve come to love the velcro closure with her.  So I prefer snap with my toddler and velcro with my newborn although I do use both closures on both kids.

Rock-A-Bums has designed their diapers to be a 5-in-1, do everything diaper.  The theory behind this is to make cloth diapering as easy as possible for new cloth adventurers and pros alike.  Built to be an All-In-One, Pocket Style, All-In-Two, Hybrid, and Cover, this diaper can truly adjust to each person’s preference and do it all.  I prefer to stuff the diaper with one insert and secure it with the snap.  At the moment, our newborn only needs one insert at a time but when using for our toddler, I place the second insert inside the diaper (but not in the pocket).  I find that method gives us the best protection for a heavier wetter.

I have found our Rock-A-Bums diaper has fit our newborn fairly well starting at about 7 pounds and, yet, still works just as well for our toddler who is 2 years old.  While it’s definitely a bit bulkier on a newborn, it works efficiently on both children and that’s the first thing I look for.  The absolutely adorable stylish cover is an awesome bonus!  I love the bright fun colors and pattern on our Rock-A-Bums.  The Zanadu is definitely a “rockin” print for hip babies.
