While I don’t usually do much with my own hair, our 9 year old daughter has really long hair that I try to style fairly often. While I used to do more french braids, curls, and fancy things with her hair, I rarely have more than 10 to 15 minutes to spend on it now so, often times, it ends up being a quick pony or regular braid. So when I saw the KISS InstaWave, I was curious as it looked like a product that I could use for our daughter.
I was sent the KISS InstaWave Automatic Curler for this review. This patent pending product boasts 2 heat settings, 2 curl direction spinning, diamond ceramic technology, up to 420 degree temperature, and auto shut off.
After unboxing, we plugged it in and turned it on high, as we were trying to get tighter curls. The InstaWave got hot really fast. (The power button changes color when it’s ready which is really helpful.) While it took me a couple tries to get a good system done, I find the KISS InstaWave quite easy to use. As suggested, I did separate her hair into two layers. We started with the bottom layer and worked in 1 inch sections. The two direction spinner on the InstaWave barrel makes curling her hair so much easier than a regular curling iron. While we were hoping for super tight curls, the InstaWave delivered semi-tight results.
From start to finish, it takes us about 15 minutes to curl her hair with the KISS InstaWave. I do think we’ll be able to shave some time off the more we use this product. Overall, we are really pleased with the effectiveness of the InstaWave. While the curls do loosen up as the day progresses, they still look nice. Even after a full day of running around and playing, our daughter’s hair still had a little curl left.
