When I was a child, I remember my parents doing Daily Devotions with us. Many times, it would be in the car as we made our way to our next stop of the day. No matter, I still look back on those times fondly so I’ve been striving to create different routines and experiences for our children. One that we’ve done throughout the years (and then take a break from) has been devotions. However, as our children are growing, I’m feeling an urge to get back into the daily habit of devotions as I find that time helps us remember who Jesus is, what he has done for us, and helps us take time to think and pray. When we do that, it seems like we all make better choices, offer kinder words, and have a more positive attitude for the day.
We were sent the Jesus Today: Devotions For Kids for this review. Throughout this hardcover book, each page is based on Scripture and written as though Jesus is speaking to and encouraging the reader. I really like the Bible references and the easy to understand messages. The one thing I do alter as we’ve started this devotional, though, is the fact of who is speaking. I don’t like reading the words as the children are assuming it is “I” talking and not Jesus. So I have changed it to 3rd person narrative as we go to make sure it is not confusing to them.
Overall, it’s a great little devotional book for families. It’s 368 pages long and geared for ages 6-10.

This would be a great devotional to slip in the Easter basket. Easter is so focused on candy, bunnies and missed the true reason we celebrate the holiday anyway.
