I have been provided with a Nutrisystem plan in exchange for sharing my honest experience and results on my blog. All opinions are my own.
Recently we were getting groceries and decided to pick up some alcohol. Alcohol doesn’t fit well on the Nutrisystem plan – by the way. Drinking water is the best route to take because its 0 calories, and drinking calories whether it’s in soda, juice or alcohol isn’t ideal in general. We only drink on rare occasion as an indulgence though. Since starting Nutrisystem Ryan chooses to avoid beer because it’s very calorie heavy. Instead he mixes a heavier alcohol (lower calories per ounce) with a 0 calorie diet soda, so even when he does drink it’s as low-calorie as possible.
Anyway, we were both asked for ID and handed the mover to the cashier. “Wow! I had to do a double take to make sure that was really you.” she says to Ryan as she handed him back his ID. I looked at his license and then at him standing in front of me. They really don’t look very similar, even though that ID photo was taken in March of 2015, roughly 16 months ago.

It got us talking about how his face has changed. Ryan had been slowly gaining weight from about 2008 to 2015. I hear stories about how people gained 25 pounds in a year following the death of a family member or some other difficult event. Ryan’s weight was never that way. There was never any “Wow you’ve put on weight” moment. He just gained about 8-10 pounds a year over the course of 7 years or so. Now in the past year, he’s dropped 63 pounds in 12 months, or 5 1/4 pounds a month. In some ways, it’s been a long journey but it’s incredible to realize how much quicker it has come off when compared to how long it took to put on. It made my day to hear the cashier say she could hardly recognize him when looking at his picture from last spring. I can only imagine how he felt.

It doesn’t look like the same person! He must have been really enjoying all your good cookin’ a little too much, I guess! Good for him, it can help him have a long healthy life!!!

I would not think it is the same person. He has done a great job on losing the weight.

Wow! I’ve been following his weight loss journey here and this “before and after” is amazing! He’s done such an awesome job and been an inspiration to me- I’m so glad he’s getting to reap some rewards- even if it’s just a kind comment from a cashier. 🙂

I know people make a big deal of the difference on the outside but can you imagine what the inside looks like? Glad Ryan is so much healthier and I know he’s encouraged to keep it off. Counseling as a nutritionist, I can verify that until people really want to lose weight for themselves, they aren’t that successful in the long term. Great going!

Wow,there is such a huge difference!!! He actually looks younger in the new photo !
