This is a Fashionista Event and a promotional item was provided to me. Hosts for this event are Still Blonde after all these Years and ModlyChic.
We’ve had some pretty cold days here in Michigan already. I know it won’t be long until there is snow on the ground. I have changed sizes since last summer so I am hoping to update my cold weather gear before winter hits. A coat is at the top of my list. I’d also like some boots and snow pants, though. I try to make time to make snowmen or otherwise play in the snow with my nieces and nephews each winter. I also like having a pair of snow pants on hand for days where I might help my dad cut or stack wood, shovel the driveway or otherwise just spend a lot of time outside where I need the extra warmth.
I was browsing the Sierra Trading Post site for winter weather gear. Sierra Trading Post offers winter wear from popular brands including The North Face, Columbia, Marmot, and Marker at discounted prices. They are able to offer great deals on these brands due to overstocking, small blemishes or irregularities, and closeout offers.
I started with the Women’s Jackets & Coats category. There are literally dozens of pages of coats and jackets for women to choose from! The North Face Cheakamus Triclimate Ski Jacket stood out to me for several reasons. It comes in “dramatic plum” which is a bright and cheery color that I love the look of. I like to wear cheerful colors when out and about in the winter to keep from feeling bleak like the weather! I have a short torso so choosing a coat with a visible waist is a must for me to prevent looking ‘frumpy’ or having the excess material gather in my belly area. It comes with a waterproof shell to keep me dry if I wear it while playing in the snow. Or the shell can be removed and just the liner worn during warmer weather.
To coordinate with the coat I went looking for black snow pants. I prefer snow pants that are fairly slim, so that I can move about without being held back by the bulk. I like the Boulder Gear Skinny Ski Pants because they come in black and the thigh area is tapered and slim. They are windproof and waterproof. They have zippers in the thigh area (where there is a mesh lining) that can be undone to vent excess heat.

I have to leave my house almost every day, regardless of the weather. I am outside a lot. I need a coat that will keep me warm and dry.

I think my fave is the Jonathan Michael Cashmere Coat (For Women) – it’d be great for the wife, looks good, and at 65% off you can’t beat it

They are all too expensive and I would rather pick up warm clothes for a couple bucks from a thrift store. I guess that’s why I’m entering contests online.
