My children love reading together. My husband and I love reading to them as we know the benefits of hearing and seeing words frequently. Another perfect reason to sit and read with little ones is its great time spent together and theres no extra energy needed to sit and read unlike some other forms of play and time together.

What do my kids love more than just reading? My kids love to read books that are relevant to them. They love reading about scenarios they’ve experienced or movies they’ve seen but more so is books about them. The Magic of My Name is a company that creates stories to tell children about awesome characteristics based on letters of a child’s individual name. I received a book for each of my three children.

The Magic of My Name allows you to personalize the book with gender, skin color and hair color which is pretty neat! Given that each of my children’s names have some of the same letters those were the same in each book as well as all of the in between filler portions of the story.

I found my little ones to be excited about the different letters of each others name just to hear the new part of the story. I wish that the books had an option for families of multiple kids that the story portions could be changed up a bit and that the multiple or shared letters could be different from each siblings book. I also wish that the book said the child’s name more often throughout the text instead of “the child”.

My kids loved the pictures in this book and I often hear my 4 year old say “My name has L in it for Lucky” and remembering other letters for her brothers name and what they mean. Overall the story is pretty cute and my little ones loved to read about themselves and each other. The Magic of My Name also offers hardcover options as well so that the book is more sturdy and rigid for little hands. Want a chance to personalize one for the little kids in your life?
