Thank you to Robert Rose Inc. for sending product for review in exchange for my honest opinion.

As many of you know, my full time day job is a nurse – taking care of kids. I also have a 2.5 year old daughter and a baby on the way. Friends and family use me as a resource when it comes to questions they have about their children’s health – especially during times when clinics are not open. Even though I’m pretty knowledgeable, I definitely don’t claim to know it all (nobody can, right?!). Googling for answers to questions about what’s ailing your child can yield you some pretty crazy and scary responses. Example: Big toe hurts? Must be big toe cancer! You all know what I mean! Information found online can sometimes be unreliable.

Even though I’m still in my 20’s, I’m fairly “old school”. At work and at home, I still like to have good old fashioned reference books around for occasions where I have a question about a specific illness or diagnosis. I am happy to partner with Robert Rose Inc. to share with you The A to Z of Children’s Health: A Parent’s Guide from Birth to 10 Years.

This reference book was written by pediatric experts from the Hospital for Sick Children. It is pretty comprehensive – covering 235 childhood conditions and illnesses that affect children ages birth to 10 years old. The illnesses and conditions are alphabetical so it is very easy to find what you are looking for quickly.

Some things that are covered are: Fever, headaches, asthma, abdominal pain, Croup, thumb sucking, nail biting, night terrors, tonsillitis, strep throat, head lice, separation anxiety, shingles, and many more. There are tons of crisp, clear photos showing parents what to look for, to help them pinpoint what potential condition their child may be experiencing. This book would be a great gift for new parents. It has already come in handy for me a few times since I’ve received it!

I like good reference books. I agree that just Googling a subject can come up with answers from left field (or even out of the universe). I love seeing pictures of your daughter.

I think this book would be a great one to have on hand. This book would also make an excellent shower gift for first time parents. I know so many look up things on the internet.. this book would be much more useful in knowing when to be concerned and when not to be.
