Sandra's flavored drumsticks

I partnered with Sandra’s on this sponsored post. All opinions are my own.

Kroger lansing Michigan

We recently stopped at Kroger in Lansing. We don’t have a Kroger in our town but Lansing isn’t that far. Still, we don’t think to stop in there very often but I wish we did. They supply some products that aren’t in other stores in our area. One brand that is only available at Kroger in my area is Sandra’s. Sandra’s chicken has made stuffed chicken breast entrees for a while. Recently they came out with flavored chicken drumsticks. We decided to try out both flavors.

We found some Sandra’s products over by the fresh meat, but these frozen drumsticks were over by the other frozen chicken products.

Sandra's flavored drumsticks

Our store had Sweet & Spicy flavor or Savory herb flavor. The Sandra’s website says they also offer Pumpkin Spice!

The instructions for these is a little unique. They come in a tightly sealed plastic bag of liquids and seasonings, so they have to be thawed before they can be cooked. The box says to thaw the chicken in your refrigerator. Here is what the chicken looks like when you open the box.

Sandra's flavored drumsticks

Each box includes 4 drumsticks. Our oven was broken so we took these to my mother in law’s house to cook. We opted to make both boxes seems how we were cooking for two households. They are very simple to cook, you simply pop them int he oven at 375 degrees for 35 minutes. We tend to like our meat well done so we cooked ours for closer to 45 minutes. As soon as I opened the pouches I suspected the chicken would be really well seasoned because it had a powerful but delicious scent. As the chicken cooked everyone was commenting on how tasty it smelled!

The day we made these was pretty hectic, we had several errands to run and a doctor’s appointment, among other things. We kind of rushed dinner and just added corn with this chicken for a super simple dinner. It was really nice how the entire meal required less than 5 minutes of prep. Once finished, the chicken was really well flavored! Ryan doesn’t care for chicken unless it has a lot of seasoning and he really liked them. We found that the sweet and spicy chicken lived up to the ‘spicy’ label more so than the ‘sweet’ label, but Ryan loved that. He likes moderately hot/spicy foods and these fit the bill. I liked both, but I preferred the savory herb. I thought it added a nice flavor without overpowering the taste of the chicken itself.

Sandra's antibiotic free chicken

Sandra’s chicken is a family-owned company that raises their chicken without the use of antibiotics. They use 100% all natural ingredients, their chickens are fed an all-vegetarian diet. The chickens are raised cage-free and the drumsticks are preservative free and have 0 grams of trans fat per serving. Not a lot of other frozen chicken products can say all that! I love supporting smaller companies and I love how this chicken is made all natural and with so many bragworthy features. I think Sandra’s chicken is a great way to keep a convenience meal on hand that you can feel good about feeding your family.

If you don’t have a Kroger near you, visit the Sandra’s website and click on ‘where to buy’ to see what stores in your area carry Sandra’s.

It’s nice to have options like this in a regular grocery store. I don’t think I’ve seen this brand in any supermarkets in my area.

These do sound really good. I actually like buying some of the pre flavored products like this especially if it isnt normally spices you keep on hand. I think too, these being marinated would cut a whole lot of time out of meal prep. Both sound good, I think I would like the savory too. I bet everyone liked them!

Did you cook them on a cookie sheet, in a casserole dish or on a rack
