My husband is an incredibly hard person to shop for. Most of the time he buys what he wants, or he says he just doesn’t need anything. My love language is gift giving and receiving, and Christmas is my favorite day of the year. So even though I know gifting isn’t the reason for the season, I still like to find things my husband will love and actually use as gifts. This year I’m turning to Rocabi for one of their luxury weighted blankets for adults!

We’re a co-sleeping family, which means that any given night you can find a three year old and five year old in our king-sized bed with us. While we love co-sleeping, it can be tougher for my husband who has to get up early for work each morning. He tends to toss and turn for awhile before falling asleep, and often has restless nights as our kids roll into him or throw their leg over his back. If you haven’t heard much about weighted blankets, the science behind them is that the weight of the blanket feels like a giant hug. When you curl up in a weighted blanket, it helps your body produce serotonin which has a calming and relaxing effect. Weighted blankets are great for people with anxiety, ADHD, stress, and people who have a hard time falling or staying asleep.

Rocabi’s Luxury Weighted Blanket is available from 15-30 pounds and in a full/queen size or queen/king size depending on your needs. Weighted blankets should be about 10% of your body weight, and Rocabi makes finding the correct size simple with their dropdown options. My husband’s Rocabi blanket is made of a cotton weighted sleeve filled with glass beads, and it has a super soft minky cover. One side of the minky has dots which are great for sensory seekers, and the other side is grey and patterned.

The cover is perfect for our cold Minnesota winters. Even though our room is warm at night, it’s still so soothing to cuddle up with a soft, warm blanket as you fall asleep. For the summer, my husband can simply remove the cover and use the cotton blanket itself. The blanket fits inside the cover like a duvet, and has multiple snap enclosures to keep the edges where they should be. One thing in particular that I love about the Rocabi blanket is that the glass beads are sewn into sections so the weight is distributed evenly.
