I’ve heard of Osmo quite a bit over the past few years – I knew they were a company that focused on STEAM learning for kids, but other than that I didn’t know much. When I started doing some research I realized their products would make perfect gifts this holiday season, and I knew our kids would be excited to try them out! I actually underestimated how amazing they are, and I can’t wait to add more to our collection now that we have a couple. If you’re new to Osmo products (like I was!), they’re an award-winning educational game system compatible with iPad and Fire Tablets. Each set comes with a base for your iPad or Fire and a game focusing on a wide range of educational subjects. Here are some of the subjects covered:

This BYJU’S Learning featuring Disney Premium Kit is powered by Osmo and features some of our very favorite Disney and Pixar characters! Each set is tailored to your child’s academic level starting at Pre-K and going through 3rd grade. Since our son is in first grade, we chose that option for our family and I can’t believe how much comes in this premium kit! Along with the Osmo Base and Reflector, we received Magic Color Wax Crayons, a 3-pack of WizPens (used to write in the workbooks), 5 Language & Reading Workbooks, and 3 Math Workbooks – it’s like a full year’s curriculum for first grade! 

The workbooks are filled with activities appropriate for first grade, and our son loves that his favorite characters can be found throughout the pages. Kids use the magic crayons and WizPens to color and write on the pages, and then they can view their work and be graded by the program on their iPad or Fire Tablet – it’s pretty incredible! Lincoln is amazed and thinks it’s magical that his work shows up on the iPad screen. The pens included with the kit are even erasable so kids can adjust their work as they go!

Along with the workbooks, this BYJU’S Learning featuring Disney Premium Kit also features educational games, read-along stories, interactive quizzes, and more. In the program you’ll find 60+ hours of skill-building activities featuring Disney characters from Frozen, Cars, and Toy Story. We homeschool both of our kids and I’m always looking for ways to get them more engaged and excited about learning. Osmo Creative Starter Kit

For our daughter, who is 9 years old, we decided to go with the Osmo Creative Starter Kit. This kit is for ages 4-10 and is incredibly fun! Included in the box you’ll find the following:

• Osmo Base and Reflector
• Creative Board
• 4 Erasable Markers
• Fuzzy Pouch (which doubles as an eraser for the markers)
• Monster, Masterpiece, and Newton Apps

Just like the previous kit, this one is compatible with iPad or Fire Tablets. Each of the apps included offer different learning games and activities for kids. These games focus on creative confidence, visual thinking, problem solving, and drawing detail/speed. 

Monster is the first app, and probably our daughter’s favorite! This program brings your child’s drawings to life and the animated monster Mo will pull their pictures up on the screen to use himself. Harper’s favorite part of this app is going on adventures with Mo as well as decorating rooms in a house with her own hand-drawn pictures. The program prompts kids to draw certain objects, and then they can get creative with it!

The second app is called Newton, where physics meets doodles! Kids progress through levels using their drawing skills to make falling balls roll, bounce, and ricochet off obstacles. I love how this program inspires creative thinking and challenges kids in the best ways. 

The final game that comes in this kit is called Masterpiece. The program transforms any image into simple-to-trace lines, so kids who don’t have much drawing confidence can gain it very quickly! While kids are drawing, a time-lapse video is created that shows the full process. I downloaded the Parent Osmo app and I’m able to see what my kids work on throughout the day even when I’m not watching right over their shoulder. To be honest though, I LOVE watching them work in these programs in real time too!
