Nadine West is a unique subscription service catering to women who want help discovering new clothing and accessory styles tailored to their personal fashion preferences. When joining, members provide their sizes and style likes, including preferred colors, patterns, jewelry tones, scarves, and sunglasses.

Every month or bi-monthly, a knowledgeable Nadine West stylist carefully selects a customized box of apparel and accessories based on each member’s tastes. The member is only charged a nominal shipping fee upfront, usually around $10. The package arrives with a prepaid return label and an itemized price list.

Members can leisurely try on the items at home and decide what to purchase or return. If keeping at least one item, the shipping fee is deducted from the cost. For instance, a $20 kept item would only charge $10 more.

Returns must be prompt as there is a limited window between delivery and the return deadline. After deciding what to keep, members can provide feedback on each item online. This helps stylists better understand preferences and curate an even more personalized shipment next time.

Today’s post is going to cover FOUR bags that I was sent over the summer. To keep his post from being incredibly long, I’ll cover each bag and each item a bit more briefly than usual.

Nadine west summer bag review

I was sent six items in this first bag. A black top that was a little tight, but I kept as I am trying to lose weight and thought it was cute. Definitely my style! Similar to a t-shirt but with just a bit more fitting and added detail. It cost $27.99.

The blue faded jean dress was really unique. It fits like a really big shirt, basically. I was born in the early 90s, so by the time I started paying attention to clothing (in late elementary school or early high school) it was the early 00’s. At that time, the people who stood out to me as really ‘out of fashion’ were people who were still dressing like the 80’s, so I have always seen 80’s fashion as the worst type of fashion, haha. Faded or acid wash denim is one of the things I associate with the 80’s so this was a big ‘no’ for me. It is $34.99 to keep.

I was sent a yellow top with a ruffled bottom. It’s tunic length and as a short woman, I don’t find that tunic length suits my body type very well. I opted not to keep this. It is $33.99.

The bottoms that I paried with the yellow top are some black elastic-waist dress pants. I thought that the bow-tie front was cute, but the material felt cheap and itchy. Also, as someone who works from home I just don’t really ever wear dress pants. These are $27.99.

A purple dress was included. Purple is my favorite color, so I was excited when I first saw the color, but was bummed when I realized it was a longer dress. As a short person, mid-length dresses look awkward on me in my opinion. I also don’t care for the big ruffled sleeves. This was $34.99.

Last but not least, a teardrop shaped necklace. I thought this was pretty, but I knew I wouldn’t get much wear out of it. It’s priced at $39.99 which I find pricy for fashion jewelry.

From this first bag, I just kept one item, the black top.

The second bag also included six items.

The bright red top struck me as kind of cute in a unique way. It has a bead and loop closure that makes the neckline a bit tight. I like the detail in the chest area. I wish it wasn’t bright red, and that it had some sleeves as I don’t like leaving my upper arms exposed. I opted not to keep it, but I thought it would be cute on someone else. It is $34.99.

The purple dress is just really not my style. I don’t like long dresses in general, and this one doesn’t have much shaping to it. I feel that dresses only look nice on me if they come in at the bust and waist. This dress was $34.99.

A silver 3-ring necklace was included which I thought was really pretty. I wish I Could get myself in the habit of swapping out jewelry more often because I do like this, I just know I wouldn’t wear it much. It is $34.99 to keep which feels pricy to me for non-fine jewelry.

The top I’m wearing in the photo with the necklace is a longer sleeveless top with an asemetrical hem and buttons on the side. I think this is pretty, it just isn’t my style. It is $29.99.

I was also sent some floral linen pants. I only wear jeans, leggings or jeggings – never linen pants so these were an instant no for me based on the material. However, I do like the floral pattern and I thought how they have a bow-tie in the back was cute. My boyfriend thought they were particularly flattering on me. I actually find them cute too, I just would feel awkward wearing these as I never see people around my area wearing linen pants.

Last but not least, a sleeveless cardigan. I wear lots of cardigans, but never sleeveless ones. I don’t really even like sleeveless tops in the summer, so I definitely am not going to wear layers while sleeveless. Still, I thought this was cute. Just not for me. It is $37.99 which does seem a bit pricy for a simple sleeveless cardigan.

I didn’t keep anything from this shipment, which is a rarity for me with Nadine west.

This third bag included six items.

The first was a polka dotted top. I apologize for the somewhat awkward photo, I was wearing shorts and they weren’t even incredibly short. They’re the shorts that I was wearing in other pictures in this post. I didn’t realize that they weren’t showing at all with this top which makes me look pantless. Whoops. Anyway, this is a long sleeveless top. I don’t really love polka dots and I also prefer to avoid tunic style tops as I feel they make me look particularly short. This was priced at 27.99.

I liked the color of the dress shown here, and the twisted fabric at the waist is pretty unique. I thought it was a subtle way to add a lot of flare to a simple dress. I just don’t really tend to wear longer dresses, so I opted not to keep this. I may have kept it if it was above knee length or so. It is priced at $34.99.

The leggings shown here aren’t being worn by me because they were way too small for me. These were sent in my usual size, but they were significantly smaller than I’d expect for a women’s medium. At a glance, I would have guessed them to be child sized, or perhaps XS at most. These are $39.99 to keep.

The earrings sent were long, chain style earrings. Pretty, but not my style. They are $17.99 to keep.

The pink top and the bottoms paired with it were both sent in this shipment. The bottoms were dress pants, and I never have use for dress pants so they’re never something I keep. However, these were also a particularly itchy fabric which If found unfortunate. They were priced at $27.99. The top is a cute color and I liked the fabric, but the oversized style and the design of the sleeves wasn’t for me. The top is $27.99.

This third bag was another where I didn’t keep anything. Again, rare, especially for two bags in a row! I just wasn’t having great luck with bags this summer!

The last bag for this post (#4) also included six items.

The brown dress is pretty shapeless. As I’ve mentioned before, I pretty much only wear dresses that come in at the bust and/or waist as I feel that makes them a lot more flattering. I liked that this tried to have a cute bow detail on the side, but I thought it laid a little strange. In a nutshell, I’d say this was a cute idea but wasn’t executed all that well. It is $34.99 to keep.

In the second photo I’m wearing a top and bottom that were both included in this shipment. The leggings are a “buttery-soft” joggers. I get similar bottoms from Nadine West pretty frequently and almost always keep them. These had a strip of cheetah print down the side, and I just can’t bring myself to wear animal print. Nothing against those who like it, but it’s definitely not my style. The bottom are $34.99 to keep which I thought was a bit pricy for some simple jeggings.

The top that I paired with the jeggings is a t-shirt but with cuffed, angled sleeves. It’s a slightly thicker material so it feels really sturdy. I liked this top and opted to keep it. I initially assumed it was a simple cotton shirt, as that’s how it felt to the touch. However, I noticed that it seems to really attract dust/dirt/fuzz etc like crazy so I think it’s likely a slightly different material. I’ll be using a lint roller a lot when wearing it, but I still like it. It is $27.99 which I thought was pricy for a pretty simple top.

I was sent some small dangly earrings which I thought were really cute, I just knew I wouldn’t get much wear out of them as I’m bad about changing earrings for different outfits. These are $17.99.

I was also sent a necklace. It’s really short, basically a choker style necklace. I thought the colors were pretty, I just again knew I wouldn’t get much wear out of this as I don’t tend to change jewelry with different outfits. I tend to keep one pair of fine jewelry on for weeks or months at a time. This necklace was priced at $34.99 which seems high to me for casual/fashion jewelry.

Finally, there was another dress. This came in at the waist which you all know by know is a big deal to me for dresses. I didn’t love the neckline, and I wish the dress was a little shorter. It looks a tiny bit longer on me than it probably should be, which isn’t a surprise given that I am 5’1″. However, the fabric is really soft, and Ryan really liked it so I opted to keep it.

I kept two items out of this shipment.

Across these four bags, I kept a total of three items. This is really unusual for me, I’m not sure why I haven’t had such good luck with finding items to keep this summer. Still, the good thing about Nadine West is that the shipping fee per bag is just under $10. If you keep at least one item, the shipping fee gets removed from the cost of the item you keep. So, as long as you keep at least one item, you don’t lose any money on the shipping fee.
