We are a family that LOVE games! Of course, depending on the season, we sometimes play more often than others. Coming out of summer, I’m definitely missing our game playing. When it’s nice out, we have to take advantage of the outdoors as Minnesota winters come all too soon. With school starting back up, I can already feel a change in the weather which means more time for games is on the horizon.

Best Board Games for Learning from Ravensburger and ThinkFun
As school starts up again and nights begin to shorten, many parents are looking for entertaining ways to extend their children’s learning at home. The experts at Ravensburger, acclaimed publisher of award-winning toys and games, and ThinkFun, the world leader in brain games, suggest this selection of the best new games for making learning fun from preschool to middle school.
Stomp The Plank Game

For the adventure seeking kids, check out Stomp The Plank. This pirate push-your-luck game is where players must try to tilt their opponents’ planks before they find themselves walking down their own! Kids think it’s hilarious so if you’re looking for a game that plays quickly, involves risk taking, and has a great look and feel to it, Stomp the Plank is for you. (Geared for ages 5 and up.)
Disney Labyrinth 100th Anniversary Board Game

I played Labyrinth for the first time this summer and am hooked! It’s a strategy and thinking game that really puts your brain to work in a fun way. With this new version, you’ll twist and turn through the sparkling Disney100 Labyrinth. Journey with your (really cool looking!) Mickey movers through the magical maze in this classic game, shifting paths carefully to navigate the constantly changing game board to find all of your favorite characters for the big celebration! (Geared for ages 7 and up.)
Free Fall Game
Take gravity to the next level with ThinkFun’s FreeFall, a logic and skill game that tests your spatial reasoning and dexterity. This game is definitely challenging for kids and adults alike. Build the puzzle and then flip, turn, and guide the ball from cup to cup to finish the maze. It’s a game with a learning curve that will put your brain to the test. (Geared for ages 8 and up.)

I’m a city girl turned country by my awesome husband and we have three busy boys and two darling daughters. I love spending time with my family, reading Karen Kingsbury novels, and catching up with friends while our kiddos have play dates. I’m blessed beyond measure and can’t wait to see what God has in store.

I like lists like this because Ravensburger and ThinkFun often mix learning with fun in a very natural way. Good board games teach logic, patience, and simple strategy without feeling like a lesson. That same idea of thinking and small risk is also why some people enjoy chance-style entertainment. In my free time I sometimes look at sweepstakes platforms like Sweep Stars , since they give a light sense of surprise and curiosity. Different formats, but the same simple reason — people enjoy games that keep the mind active.
