*I was provided with EyeBuyDirect glasses in exchange for sharing my opinion through a blog post review. All opinions are my own.

I remember being so excited to start back to school each fall. It always felt like a refreshing new start, and I loved shopping for a new outfit or two plus choosing a backpack, lunchbox, etc. For kids who need glasses, our glasses can seem like a big part of our appearance because they’re right on our face. I was 12 when I started wearing glasses full time, and I’ve been ordering a certain style of glasses since I was about 14. At this point, my friends and family members mentally picture me with black plastic glasses on because I’ve worn some variation of black plastic glasses for about 10 years now. While I like to stick with what is comfortable for me, I love seeing people like my 12 year old sister use glasses as a way to change up their look. She was 4 when she first got glasses and between 4 and 12 she’s had several pairs of glasses – one pair was purple, another black, another pink and she’s tried partial frames, full frames, plastic and metal. It’s always exciting to see what style, color and material she goes with when she chooses new glasses.

Ordering new glasses for your child to head back to school with can help them create a new look for themselves while also providing the benefit of letting them see as clearly as possible, making school a bit easier.

A few years back I discovered online glasses retailers and ordered a pair from EyeBuyDirect. I was a little hesitant at first because the glasses were SO cheap. I have a pretty simple prescription and the plastic frames that I like tend to be fairly cheap compared to other styles. However, I was used to paying around $150-$200 for a complete pair of glasses at my eye doctors office, and that was without upgrading to thin lenses, getting progressive lenses or anything “extra” like that. At EyeBuyDirect frames start at just $6 and lenses start at $6.95 for single-vision lenses, so you can get an entire pair for about $13. When my glasses came they fit great, were sturdy and I could see perfectly. I wore those glasses for over a year and even when I did re-buy, the glasses were still in good shape I just needed to update my prescription.

I was recently able to select a new pair of EyeBuyDirect glasses for myself, and to order a pair for Ryan as well. I went with my fairly standard choice of frames that are plastic and black, while Ryan went with his go-to glasses which is rimless. Ryan has a strong and more complex prescription than me, so his glasses have been as much as $400+ at the eye doctor. At EyeBuyDirect, his glasses were under $100!

We are both really pleased with our new EyeBuyDirect glasses, and I love that our order total was under $200 for both pairs, which is roughly what we would have to spend on a single pair at the eye doctor. My glasses were only $99 and this was with the “add-on” of having glasses that adjust to sunlight. I love being able to wear one pair of glasses instead of trying to place sunglasses over my regular frames. I had no idea I would be able to afford this “luxury” for under $100 total. Ryan wasn’t interested in any “upgrades” but his glasses were under $100 as well, despite his choosing a more expensive frame style (rimless glasses are always a more expensive than plastic full-framed glasses) as well as his strong and complex prescription. Of course, to get your updated prescription you do need to see an eye doctor for an exam before ordering, but even with the cost of the exams the EyeBuyDirect glasses are a great buy.

Our order arrived in the mail six days after we placed our order, so for most kids there is still enough time to get glasses from Eye Buy Direct before heading back to school. EyeBuyDirect has a large selection of glasses for children in a range of sizes and colors. If your child already has a pair of glasses in their current prescription, ordering a back-up pair from EyeBuyDirect would be a great “safety net” in case their glasses are broken at some point during the school year to prevent them from being without glasses while re-ordering. I remember having to wait a week or two after breaking my glasses once in middle school and it was a difficult time to try and keep up with my school work when I could barely read the whiteboard.

Have you ordered glasses online from EyeBuyDirect? How much money has it saved you?

Wow that is affordable and this post is not that old so I should check them out. I like the rimless lenses like Ryan’s and have several pairs of readers that are rimless and so lightweight. I had lasix but will need to get a prescription soon, other than wearing reading glasses you can get without a prescription.
