We’re a homeschooling family, and I’m always looking for ways to make learning fun. Games are a great way to get every family member involved and still promote a love for learning, and we try to play games often with our kids. When I recently heard about RoosterFin Games, I knew I wanted to check them out because they sounded like great gifts for Christmas this year. We got to try out four games from RoosterFin and we are loving ALL of them!

Rooster Race

The concept of Rooster Race is simple-try to guess whether the next card you flip up will be higher or lower than the card played previously. However, there is some skill involved as you try to remember which cards have been played! If you’re correct, you get a piece of corn, and if not, you put a piece back. The player with the most corn at the end of the game wins! Our five year old daughter absolutely loves this game and it’s a fantastic way for her to work on math and memory concepts while having a lot of fun! Plus, game-play is quick so even kids with short attention spans will enjoy it. This game is for ages 5 and up but if you’ve got younger kids who recognize numbers and understand the concept of higher or lower, they could absolutely benefit from it, too.

Rabbit Pirates

Rabbit Pirates is the most advanced of the four games we received and it’s rated for ages 7 and up. After playing it a few times, our five year old has gotten the hang of it and really enjoys it. The goal of the game is to have the highest value in bronze, silver, and gold treasure tokens. You win these tokens by playing higher value “attacks” than your opponents. Our daughter really loves that the attacks are fun objects, especially the slimeballs and beachballs! You do need to practice some strategy in this game, as you never know where your opponents will lay their higher valued cards. Plus, if there’s a tie or a wild card played, there will be special awards given! This is definitely a “fun for all ages” game.

Turtle Flip

Turtle Flip is a fast-paced game that’s perfect for learning to recognize double digit numbers and determine which numbers are higher and lower. Players each receive one card and then take turns flipping tokens which tell you whether to pass your cards to the left, to the right, or to flip them. Each player knows their original card number, but who knows where it will end up? When a Flip token is upturned, players reveal the card in front of them and the highest card wins that round and the token. The first person with three Flip tokens wins the game! I honestly wasn’t sure how our five year old would do with this game, because she does know how to count to 100 but I didn’t know if she could recognize all the numbers. However, she’s blown me away by showing me she can identify double digit numbers and determine which is the highest of the bunch!

Ninja Squirrels

Ninja Squirrels is my personal favorite out of our current RoosterFin games! While it’s rated for ages 7 and up, our whole family loves it including our (almost) three year old son. You have to be quick to spot the color matches during gameplay-when two cards with the same color acorn are played, the first person to grab that color nut from the battle ring wins it! The player with the most acorns at the end wins the game. Our kids love how quickly this game moves, and I appreciate that our kids are practicing their motor skills and color identification without even knowing it!

We are absolutely loving our RoosterFin Games and we can’t wait to add more to our collection. Not only are they fun, they’re educational and our kids are learning so much just by playing.
