FORT Review - Every Child's New Favorite Piece Of Furniture Toy!

This ‘FORT Review – Every Child’s New Favorite Piece Of Furniture Toy!’ is sponsored by FORT.  As always, all opinions are my own.

Kids LOVE building forts.  As a matter of fact, we used to have a sectional couch that we’d turn into awesome forts all the time for the kids!  It was SO much fun (for all of us!). However, the couch paid the price as utilizing the cushions wore them down and made them dirty over time.  So even though we loved that couch, after about 8 years, we parted ways as the cushions were getting ‘saggy’ and the discoloration was driving me crazy.  Our older kids still talk about their fort building days and so when I saw the FORT, newly released in 2021, I just had to check it out and bring our fort building days back!

Don’t sacrifice your couch – there’s an easier way to keep kids busy during the long day!

With winter now in full swing, many families are searching for indoor activities to escape the cold.  While it’s easy to reach for a tablet, the TV remote, or video game console; FORT’s magnetic pillow building set offers an indoor activity that’s fun and engaging for both the mind and body.

First off, I’ll start out by answering a few of the most frequently asked questions.  Then I’ll share my FORT Review with you!

FORT Review - Every Child's New Favorite Piece Of Furniture Toy!

What Exactly Is The FORT?

The FORT is the original magnetic play fort that kids love!  Custom neodymium magnets keep your FORT builds up so kiddos can crawl inside, over, and around. They’re strong, but not so strong that they can’t be easily manipulated!

How Many Pieces Come With The FORT?

Each FORT set comes with 12 fun pieces.

What Can You All Build With Your FORT?

You can build anything that can be imagined as possibilities are endless with FORT!  It’s truly an open-ended furniture / toy system that will entertain for hours and hours as the sky is truly the limit.

Are FORT Pieces Heavy?

Nope!  FORT pieces are designed to be light enough that even little builders can move and build with them without any help!

Can I Clean My FORT?

Yes, absolutely!  The FORT has been designed with foam blocks that are covered with waterproof fabric.  That means the pieces easily wipe clean with just soap and water.  Because the covers are waterproof, you can even safely play with your FORT outdoors!

Is It Hard To Assemble A FORT?

Putting together the FORT pieces upon arrival is simple!  The foam blocks are packaged in air tight, vacuum sealed plastic with easy to open sides.  So just tear open and allow pieces to ‘inflate’ and then place each piece in its coordinating cover.  Zip up and it’s ready for play!  Check out this assembly video to see how easy it truly is.

Our FORT Review

For those who have been following Emily Reviews for any length of time, you may already know that we have 5 kiddos (with another on the way).  So our home is a busy one!  With that said, I also don’t like clutter so I tend to be choosy about the toys and furniture we keep in our space.  I’m happy to report that FORT is definitely one that is sure to be loved for years to come!

FORT Review - Every Child's New Favorite Piece Of Furniture Toy!

Even the older kids are great at helping the younger ones build with their FORT pieces!  It’s well made, durable, and I can vouch that it’s a hit for all ages!

FORT Review - Every Child's New Favorite Piece Of Furniture Toy!

I also love how the FORT is available in a variety of color options as there’s a choice for every preference, room, and decor.  We chose PeaPod, which is a light green but the kids are already wanting to get another set (or two!) in other colors to add to the fun.

This is GREAT!! Ever kid would love something like this. It would be amazing to see pictures of all the different things that are created from them. My great niece would love something like this but her mother there is just NO room!!

  • Sarah L

What a wonderful idea! Looks like so much fun (and better than a couch)

  • Peggy Nunn

This is great. Somewhere to sit and the kids have a play area. I love it.

This looks so fun. I would have loved this as a kid to build all the forts out of cushions

  • Helga

This is such a creative concept for fort-loving kids. It has so many configurations. The color selections are nice too. I think my mini pigs would like this too!

My eyes first saw this line: Don’t sacrifice your couch – there’s an easier way to keep kids busy during the long day!
I remember the furniture and our blankets thrown around everywhere. I really couldn’t yell at them too much, because I used to make tents with my brothers and sister. We had not just one tent either! Sometimes it was war between the girls and the guys.
I have grandkids that do this now. I love that the cushions are light and cleanable. This would be an awesome gift idea!

This is an amazing creation! I don’t know a single kid that doesn’t love building forts, and this is so perfect! I love that it has so many ways to use it, they can really use their imaginations and make whatever they feel like! I also really love that they are so easy to keep clean. I will definitely be keeping this in mind the next Birthday for my kids!

Don’t waste your money on the Fort. It’s a piece of junk. Nothing can be built out of it, the pieces just fall over. Company will not stand behind it.

  • Mia Rose

This is such an amazing idea and one that would be a super addition to my grandkids play room. So many different fort designs to build and have fun with and be able to keep clean.

  • Leela

What a fun product! It looks like endless fun.

  • Kari B

Looks like some fun furniture. Wish I had that when I was a kid.

If only Fort had any grain of customer service for all of the issues with their products. One sided reviews like this are deceptive and misleading. Im sure you will censor and delete just like Fort is doing with all of their social media.

This is hilarious. We have two FORTs and cannot/would not write such a glowing review.

The magnets have weak connections because, as diametrical magnets, they essentially can only connect to one-half at a time.

About half of the pictured “official” builds cannot be done at all or cannot be done freestanding because of the weak connections, lack of good magnet placements (eg the triangles only have two magnets each), and/or the delivered FORTs are different sizes than the prototypes. My 9 year old and I tried for the Heart House one for about 30mins before giving up.

I won’t even go into the customer service issues, quality control issues, nor safety issues.

Basically, this product is worth about $250/each and certainly no where near the $500 retail FORT hopes to sell them for …

Would be nice if FORT would send the units to their Kickstarter backers before sending out free ones for reviews. It’s a shame. Conner Lewis has no knowledge of how to run a business and has blown through the $3M that his backers invested. His customer service is appalling and many backers have resorted to filing refund disputes with their bank. I’m really disappointed because I love the idea of the FORT but it was not executed well and he has not admitted to a single mistake he has made. Instead he calls concerned parents “pitchfork mob” and dismisses legitimate safety concerns.

  • Peggy Nunn

I like that it can be a fort and a place for them to sit and play, read, or whatever. It is very versatile.

  • Maryann D.

My kids would have loved The FORT when they were young but I know my young nephew would love this! I have a feeling my cat would enjoy it also!

  • Angela

Is this a paid for review where they told you what to touch on, or did you not research the product at all before hand? Wish you would have touched on the safety concerns after the multiple reports to CPSC.

  • CT

Considering the magnets aren’t secure, the seams unraveling after only a few weeks, I would highly recommend you take this down. I couldn’t in good conscience ever recommend this product and it’s disheartening and frankly gross to see you recommend it.

Honestly, you couldn’t pay me to have this piece of trash around my children.

  • Peggy Nunn

This will be hours of fun. I know the kids will love it.

  • gloria patterson

My great niece has birthday coming up and I asked her mother if it was OK that I got these for her.

Sure and she can come over to your place and play with them ever day! So I will continue to look for something

  • Eliina

How are you supporting a horrible company with an F rating from the bbb and numerous safety issues?! Gross
